Prodromos-Vasileios Mekikis works as a Researcher at the Corporate Research and Technology unit of the Hilti Group since June 2023. At Hilti, he is engaged in exploring innovative solutions for enhanced productivity, safety, and sustainability in the construction industry through the integration of cutting-edge IoT technologies and data-driven insights. In 2020, he received the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship for his work on UAV networks. He got his PhD from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in 2017. His PhD dissertation "Design and Stochastic Analysis of Emerging Large-Scale Wireless-Powered Networks" received a Best Thesis award from UPC in the ICT sector, while he was awarded the First Prize in the IEEE ComSoc student competition for his work on emergency UAV networks. He also holds an Electrical and Computer Engineering degree (2010) and an M.Sc. in System-on-Chip design (2012) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), respectively. His main research interests include connectivity in massive Internet of Things networks, UAV-based networking, wireless power transfer, embedded systems design, and network function virtualization.
