If you want secure, all-day comfort with a detachable microphone headset for basketball and a modular design that adapts to your ears, choose MEE audio Professional MX4; if you need ultra-accurate studio monitoring with a flat frequency response for mixing or precise stage work, choose Fanmusic Softears Studio4.
• MEE audio Professional MX4: Strengths lie in its hybrid driver setup (dynamic + balanced armature) offering deep bass and clarity, plus memory wire earhooks for a secure fit during movement. Trade-off is the higher complexity of a 4-driver system which might suit purists more than casual listeners. Best for athletes and musicians needing a reliable mic and rugged build.
• Fanmusic Softears Studio4: Strengths include a pure 4-balanced armature configuration designed specifically for a flat, neutral sound signature ideal for critical listening. Trade-off is the lack of physical ear hooks and a stiffer impedance curve that demands specific amplification. Best for studio engineers and audiophiles prioritizing reference accuracy over sporty durability.
The MEE audio Professional MX4 PRO is built for people who demand versatility without sacrificing audio fidelity. Its flagship status comes from a quad-driver hybrid architecture that marries a 10mm dynamic subwoofer with three balanced armatures. This combination allows the headphones to deliver linear bass that hits hard while maintaining exceptional clarity and crisp detail in the highs. If you are looking for wireless headphones for basketball or any high-intensity activity where you need to hear your music clearly but also stay aware of your surroundings, this balance is crucial. The passive noise cancellation provided by the silicone tips helps isolate you from gym noise, yet the sound profile remains open enough to enjoy the full spectrum of a track.
Comfort is arguably the strongest selling point for this model, especially when you consider how long some users wear them. The ergonomic design features flexible memory wire earhooks that conform perfectly to the shape of your ear. This isn't just about holding the device in place; it ensures the monitors never fall out even during vigorous jumps or sprints on the court. You won't find yourself constantly fidgeting or re-adjusting the fit every few minutes, which is a common frustration with standard in-ear monitors. The package includes four pairs of silicone eartips and Comply memory foam options, giving you the flexibility to dial in the perfect seal and comfort level for your specific ear anatomy.

However, this product is not for everyone. If you are strictly a studio mixer who requires a completely neutral, uncolored signal chain, the added weight and bass emphasis of the dynamic driver might feel like too much coloration compared to a pure balanced armature solution. Additionally, while the modular design is impressive, allowing you to swap cables and customize faceplates, it adds a layer of complexity that some users might find unnecessary if they just want a simple plug-and-play experience. It is best suited for the musician who performs live, the athlete who needs a secure fit, or the producer who wants a hybrid sound that works well both on stage and in the booth. The inclusion of a spare headset cable with a built-in microphone and remote makes it an excellent choice for head phones for basketball practice sessions where you might need to take calls between drills.
The Fanmusic Softears Studio4 is engineered for the purist who values absolute sonic truth above all else. As part of the new Studio series, this in-ear monitor is specifically developed for studio recording, mixing, and stage monitoring where accuracy is non-negotiable. It utilizes a 4-balanced armature unit configuration with a 3-way crossover design. This architecture is tuned to provide a wide frequency response range with a flat frequency response characteristic, ensuring that what you hear is exactly what was recorded. There is no artificial bass boost or treble peak here; instead, you get natural, accurate, and high-fidelity sound playback that reveals every nuance in the mix.
The physical construction of the Studio4 reflects its professional intent. The shell is made from high-precision 3D-printed medical resin, which offers excellent consistency and stability. This manufacturing method results in a thinner and lighter outer diameter compared to many competitors, optimizing the wearing experience based on previous successful molds like the RS series. The smaller form factor means it is compatible with a wider variety of eartip types, allowing you to experiment with different seals without the bulk of the housing interfering. The cable itself is a significant upgrade, featuring twisted-pair oxygen-free copper conductors and advanced 0.78mm 2-pin connectors with four-lobed elastic bushings. This ensures a stable connection that minimizes interference, which is vital when you are working in environments with heavy electronic equipment.
This product is ideal for professionals who work in conditions requiring a fully isolated environment, such as recording booths or live stages where external noise must be eliminated to focus on the audio. However, the trade-offs are clear for the general consumer. The Studio4 lacks the memory wire earhooks found on the MEE audio model, meaning it relies entirely on the friction of the eartips to stay in your ear. If you are planning to use these for running or basketball, the lack of a physical retention mechanism could be a dealbreaker. Furthermore, the impedance is listed at 120 ohms, which is significantly higher than the 12 ohms of the MX4. This suggests that while it is easy to drive in terms of sensitivity, the higher impedance might require a dedicated amplifier or a high-quality source to perform optimally, unlike the more accessible nature of the MEE audio option. It is a tool for the serious engineer or audiophile, not necessarily for the casual listener looking for a fun, energetic sound signature.

After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I would buy the MEE audio Professional MX4 for my personal needs, particularly because I need a reliable pair of wireless headphones for basketball that can handle sweat and movement without falling out. The memory wire earhooks provide a peace of mind that the Studio4 simply cannot offer for athletic activities. While the Fanmusic Softears Studio4 is undeniably a marvel of engineering for studio work, its lack of retention mechanisms and higher impedance make it less versatile for the average user who might also want to use their earbuds on the go. The MEE audio Professional MX4 strikes the perfect balance between high-resolution reference sound and practical, rugged durability, making it the superior all-around choice for someone who lives an active lifestyle.
Yes, the MEE audio Professional MX4 is explicitly designed with memory wire earhooks to stay secure during intense movement, making it ideal for head phones for basketball. The Fanmusic Studio4 lacks these hooks and may slip during vigorous activity.
