What is hemp oil?
Hemp seed contains an estimate of 30% oil by weight. The oil is rich in essential fatty acids and can be extracted by cold pressing. This process requires the seeds to be-shelled, then the other husk is removed. After some chilling and squeezing, the hemp oil is extracted. The oil is green-colored, unrefined and has nutritious content preserved by the cold press process.
Various types of industrial hemp can generate two tons per hectare of seeds. On the contrary, Cannabis indica strains can produce 10 to 14 tons per hectare. It does not matter whether it is pressed from hemp seeds or cannabis seeds, the hemp seed oil derived does not contain THC thus it is not psychoactive.
Different types of hemp oil

Hemp essential oil

The oil has light yellow to light green color with the highly concentrated therapeutic aroma. To obtain 1 oz. of hemp essential oil, you need more than 50 lbs. It is considered one of the most expensive oils in the world, and it does not contain CBD or THC.
It relaxes the body and releases stress. You can combine this earthy, sweet and peppery smelling oil with other fragrances to perfect the art of aromatherapy.
Hemp seed oil
This type of hemp oil is extracted from the hemp plant. You can process the oil into two different ways:
Unrefined hemp seed oil
This oil has a green color with a nutty taste. The cold pressed process does not destroy the hemp's nutritious content. Thus it is called the "Nature's most perfectly balanced oil."
This type of hemp oil is processed under minimal heat. It means that the oil has not been deodorized or bleached. Some refer to this unrefined oils as the raw, pure, virgin or extra virgin. This also means that unrefined oil has a shorter shelf life and it needs to be refrigerated once opened. When the expiration date gets closer, it starts to smell differently.
Refined hemp seed oil
The refined oil is clear and colorless. As compared to unrefined, refined oil does not have much flavor, and it lacks the antioxidants and natural vitamins that hemp is popular for. It is because of this why it is used as ingredients for fuel, plastics, body care products, and lubricants.
This oil has been deodorized and bleached and has a longer shelf life, and is added in many body care products.
CBD hemp oil
CBD hemp oil is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid extracted from hemp plants for medical use. It is known to be safe and effective for patients with epilepsy, seizures, and cancer.
