LONGCHENPA
The Great Perfection
Meditations on Awakening — Inspired by Longchenpa
Sit quietly
Let everything settle
Drop all effort
There is nothing to do
Awareness is naturally present
Open
Spacious
Luminous
This vast expanse of knowing is already here
Clear
Ungrassable
Timeless
Not something you create
But the groundless space
Where all experience unfolds
Rest here
...
Everything that appears
Thoughts
Sensations
The world
Arises like a mirage in the desert
Like a reflection in water
Like a dream without substance
Do not chase appearances
Do not resist them
Let them arise
Let them dissolve
Like echoes fading into silence
There is nothing to hold onto
Rest here
...
Pleasure and pain
Gain and loss
Praise and blame
All are waves
On the same vast ocean
They arise
They dissolve
Without a trace
Do not grasp happiness
Do not resist suffering
See them as equal
Fleeting
Empty
Passing shadows on the ground
Rest here
...
From the very beginning
You have never been bound
So there is nothing to free
The seeker
The path
The goal
All imagined
Like stories in a dream
Who is there to liberate
Who is there to awaken
Look closely
There is only this open empty awareness
Rest here
...
There is nothing to fix
Nothing to purify
Nothing to improve
Everything is already perfect
Spontaneously complete
Just as it is
No need for struggle
No need for striving
Simply let go
And in the letting go
See
There was never anything to let go of
Rest here
...
All experiences arise
Dance for a moment
Dissolve back into space
Like waves in water
Like wind moving through the sky
Nothing is separate
From this vast luminous awareness
Let thoughts come
Let thoughts go
Let life unfold as it will
You are the open sky
Vast
Clear
Untouchable
Simply rest here
In the space of pure knowing
Nothing to do
Nothing to change
Nothing to hold onto
Just this
