The Great Perfection
Meditations on Awakening — Inspired by Longchenpa
Experiencing reality in its purest form involves engaging with the present moment and acknowledging existence without attachment or aversion, emphasizing acceptance and awareness.
In the spacious state of awareness all constraints dissolve
There is nothing to accept
Nothing to reject
Just the natural presence of being
Without interfering
Without controlling
Let all experience arise and settle on its own
...
Awareness is emptiness and clarity inseparable
Like a crystal reflecting light in all directions
Awareness manifests freely without obstruction
There is no need to fix it
No need to contain it
Just remain undistracted
...
But will thoughts distract me?
No
Thoughts may arise
But awareness remains unshaken
As experience unfolds
It returns naturally to its source
The vast open ground of being
...
Meditation is not about fixation
It is about natural presence
If you cling to bliss
To clarity
To nonconceptual states
You are like a god lost in a dream of illusion
Real meditation is simply resting
In awareness as it is
...
Many teachings speak of structured methods
But these belong to ordinary consciousness
The true path is not about technique
It is about seeing directly
Without distraction
Without seeking
Everything unfolds naturally
Everything is already free
...
Do not confuse the absence of thought with realization
Do not search for stillness or peace
That is just another concept
If you cling to emptiness you are lost
If you seek something to attain
You have already strayed
Awareness is not found by looking outward
It is already present within
...
Samsara and Nirvana are not two things
No effort is needed to escape one and reach the other
Everything is already spontaneously perfect
No need to reject phenomena
Simply see their empty nature
...
The greatest meditation is no meditation at all
When all effort ceases
You arrive in the state of Suchness
Awareness is beyond practice
Beyond striving
It is already complete
...
When the mind no longer grasps at objects
There is nothing to reify
Nothing to cling to
When the mind no longer follows thoughts
There is no karma
No suffering
No illusion
In this moment all duality collapses
Only pure awareness remains
...
The essence of the teachings is this
Do not seek
Do not avoid
Do not fabricate
Rest in the state that is already perfect
Let whatever arises be as it is
Without grasping
Without resisting
...
Whether you call it awareness
Suchness
Or Dharmakaya
It has never been absent
This natural awareness is not separate from you
It is your very being
No path leads to it
Because it has never been lost
No effort creates it
Because it has never been absent
...
Do not look for freedom outside yourself
It has always been right here
Do not fabricate meditation
Let awareness rest as it is
Do not seek enlightenment
You are already free
...
Nothing to attain
Nothing to abandon
Rest in awareness itself
This is the Great Perfection
