Departments on set

There are numerous departments which come togther to ensure the production run smoothly, to time and to budget

The production department are usually the primary contractor of medical provision on set.

The production team comprises of:

Producer
Executive producer
Production Manager / Coordinator - usually our first point of contact, they will also send out your daily call sheets, all fuctions and departments feed into this central role
Production/Set Runners - the most junior position on any set, but the people we need to befriend! There job is to move things, orgnaise daily logistics and keep people in the right location at the right time.

This department is often the first to arrive and the last to leave
They have a lot of heavy equipment, and can be seen as more of one 'at risk' departments from our point of view
Head of the team is referred to as the 'Gaffer"

Clearly have an important role to play
The head of this department is the DOP (Director of Photography) , also usually in charge of lighting and electrical too
There main role is to make things visually appear well on screen
Camera Operators do the majority of the work, assisted by the 1st Assistant Camera (or Focus Puller)
Camera Trainees (Clapper Loaders) are the most junior members of the team, and as the name suggests are still in traning for the role

Art department and set decorators are concerned with layout/style of the set
Props (Properties) - look after the studio or production company assets or hired assets on set

Another high risk department
They suspend objects such as lights or screens from anchor points, often using scaffolding

There role is fairly obvious - common injuries from steamers and irons on unit base
