Use: Labeled Indications
Protective coating for mild skin irritations and abrasions; soothing and protective ointment to promote healing of chapped skin, diaper rash
Administration: Pediatric
Topical:
Cream, paste, stick: For external use only; do not use in the eyes. Gently cleanse affected area and pat dry with a clean soft cloth or allow to air dry. May use dry tissue to remove excess product.
Powder: For external use only; avoid contact with eyes and face or mouth (to avoid breathing in powder). Do not use on broken skin.
Storage/Stability
Avoid prolonged storage at temperatures >30°C.

What is this drug used for?
• It is used to treat or prevent diaper rash.
• It is used to treat skin irritation.
• It is used to treat poison oak, ivy, and sumac rashes.
Other side effects of this drug: Talk with your doctor right away if you have any of these signs of:
• A significant reaction like wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to zinc oxide or any component of the formulation
Pregnancy Considerations
Zinc oxide is not expected to be absorbed systemically following topical administration to healthy skin (Newman, 2009). Systemic absorption would be required in order for zinc oxide to cross the placenta and reach the fetus.
