Name
FURAZOL Tablets
Composition
Each tablet contains:
Diloxanide furoate 250 mg
Metronidazole 200 mg
Action
Comprehensive amoebicide
Furazol combines the complementary actions of two well-established drugs, diloxanide furoate,
the luminal amoebicide and metronidazole, the potent tissue amoebicide. Whilst diloxanide furoate
acts exclusively in intestinal amoebiasis, metronidazole is also useful in extra-intestinal
amoebiasis and particularly hepatic manifestations of the disease. Diloxanide furoate and
metronidazole have synergistic activity and their combination rapidly produces high parasitological
and clinical cure rates.
Furazol is well-tolerated and provides comprehensive treatment for both intestinal and extraintestinal amoebiasis without need for additional drugs.
It acts on both the vegetative and the cystic forms of Entamoeba histolytica.
Indications
Acute amoebic dysentery.
Chronic intestinal amoebiasis and other systemic diseases due to Entamoeba histolytica.
