A group of three students, including myself, successfully modified and donated two drivable toy electric cars for disabled children to Children's Medical center. Our modifications included: electrical rewiring of the accelerator from the pedal of the vehicle to a button on the steering wheel (thus making the toy car drivable for children with leg-motor disabilities), enhancing safety of the car by installing a structure which holds padding around venerable areas where children could have been injured, and lastly some accessories to the car such as an mp3 player, stickers, etc. to make the car compatible, safe and as enjoyable as possible for disabled children.
As a current update, we have received funding for an additional 12 cars, and most have been finished. It is estimated that they will be donated by May 2023.
Below is a poster with additional details.
