We Host Great Ideas The story behind – and ahead of – Media Temple.
How We Got Here Early Days Growing Renown New Future On his birthday in 1998, Demian Sellfors filed the paperwork creating Intergress Technologies – the company that would ultimately transform into the legendary web host Media Temple. In those days, web hosting was dominated by two massive providers along with scores of untrustworthy operators that often disappeared in the middle of the night. After merging Intergress with a web design studio, Sellfors and cofounder John Carey decided to focus entirely on delivering B2B internet services with sophistication and reliability.
Part of Something Bigger CONNECTING THE COMMUNITY The trust of our users is Media Temple’s greatest asset. So, we listen to our customers and use that input as we plan for the future. That often comes in the form of surveys and research. But just as often, it comes from being active participants in the design and development communities. Whether its agency ping-pong tournaments, networking sessions like Creative Mornings, or the annual SXSW Interactive Bash, we host creative endeavors outside of the web as well as on it. BUILDING A TEAM Media Temple employs a lot of really smart people, but we’ve found the best results don’t come from geniuses locked up in dark offices. Our teams network across the company – and our parent GoDaddy – to seek new perspectives and innovative solutions. It helps prevent us from getting stuck in old ways. Experimentation drives our day-to-day, giving us insight into legacy challenges as well as hosting’s future. It’s this kind of approach that fuels our own success.
