SYNOPSIS

MECHANICAL BULLS is the story of four wayward twenty-somethings reconnecting after years apart. Taking place over the course of one day, the once close-knit group attempt to confront their personal truths and unresolved issues with each other. Will they recognize each other by the end of the night?

THE STORY

JANE is a recent graduate who feels utterly stuck in life. Her job prospects are nonexistent, her friends are drifting apart, and she’s losing sight of who she is. When MAY, Jane’s best friend from college who has had a seamless transition into adulthood, crashes at her apartment for the weekend, Jane is forced to confront her own inadequacies.

Joined by the foolish ZACH and FINN, the once close-knit group spends a night reconnecting, challenging personal beliefs, and trying to find a way forward into the future. As the evening stretches on, these friends will forsake their facades and bare their true selves. Will their relationships survive the weekend?

              JAKE SCHICK - WRITER/DIRECTOR/PRODUCER, FINN

Jake is the co-writer/director/producer of Mechanical Bulls. Jake currently works as a freelance film editor, assistant camera, writer, and post production tech for Little Monster Films. They recently produced and edited Lauren Nguyen's film, Please, Smile, and is currently producing Sutton Revell's upcoming film GTBG. Jake also performs as a comedian all over the country and has acted in numerous short films and plays. Jake has written and directed several plays and short films, and they are currently writing their second feature film. Read more at www.jake-schick.com  

                    JOSH LAUFER - WRITER/DIRECTOR/PRODUCER

Josh is the co-writer/director/producer of Bulls. He currently works as a freelance writer and script reader. Interested in off-beat comedies, Josh was ecstatic to join this project when Jake approached him with the initial idea. Despite many gymnastics lessons during kindergarten, he can no longer do a respectable handstand. After Mechanical Bulls is completed, he intends to take a road trip. Destination suggestions are welcomed.

CAROL ZEITUNE - CO - PRODUCER

Carol is a Brazilian writer/producer, raised in Thailand and currently based in Lisbon, Portugal. She's the biggest fan of Jake and Josh - as artists but even more so as people, and is excited to help them bring their intimate story to life. 

BRANDI POWELL - CO - PRODUCER

Brandi is a writer and producer hailing from West Virginia. Brandi has worked on many projects including The Drew Barrymore Show. She is thrilled to join Jake and Josh on their storytelling journey and help them bring their story from page to screen. 

SAM LOWENBURG - DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Sam is a filmmaker from Cincinnati, Ohio now residing in New York. As a freelancer, he has worked on a number of films ranging from shorts to features. With a plethora of creative tools at his disposal and strong understanding of visual storytelling, he is excited to help bring stories worth telling to the big screen or a slightly smaller screen near you. 

RHEA LI - SOUND MIXER

Rhea Li is freelance film director and sound mixer. Her specialty in sound makes her perfect for a dialogue-heavy film like Mechanical Bulls, bringing the auditory experience to life.

SUTTON REVELL - PRODUCTION DESIGNER

Sutton Revell is a production designer and writer from Manhattan Beach, CA. She has worked on a variety of documentaries and narrative projects as production designer, editor, and producer. Her future plans involve moving to New Mexico, becoming a chinchilla, and doing many tiny dances. She hopes this film will answer the question: do robotic cowboys ride mechanical bulls?
