Welcome to the Fatigue Damage Mechanics and Material Modelling (FDM3) group under the direction of Dr. Bimal Das in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Ahmedabad University. Our Fatigue Damage Mechanics and Material Modelling (FDM3) group investigates the mechanisms of fatigue-induced deformation and damage in engineering materials subjected to realistic in-service loading, with emphasis on metallic alloys and composite systems fabricated using conventional and additive manufacturing processes. We integrate state-of-the-art experimentation, advanced characterisation, constitutive material modelling, and Artificial Intelligence to predict the life of engineering components. Our work focuses on solving emerging challenges in materials, design and manufacturing technologies, aligning with the country’s technological goals and fostering student development for successful careers in academia and industrial sectors.
Component-Centric Design Research
Please do not hesitate to get in contact if you think we could collaborate; I am very much open to new ideas and suggestions and I am keen to cooperate with other researchers in academia or industry. Outstanding students and researchers are welcome to inquire regarding PhD opportunities. Link here 👉
