This university project was done as a competition in collaboration with Delfont Mackintosh Theatres with the opportunity to win a week's work experience across multiple Mackintosh theatres. The aim was to explore large-scale performances and I won this competition.
For this project, I designed 10 costumes for hypothetical Ashnikko concerts at Nottingham Arena. The theme was losing control which I approached with a cyberpunk aesthetic at the beginning of the concert. Then, the machines "lose control" leading to a more Harajuku aesthetic, typical of the singer.
This project encouraged us to explore modern technologies in design which I developed by designing of 3D characters that would be projected on the concert live such as the AI virtual singer Hatsune Miku who collaborated with Ashnikko in the past.
On the right, you can see elements of the design process before it reaches its final stage.
