MD Beautifier is a Chrome extension by Digital Traffic Labs. It shows Markdown files as formatted pages. This policy explains what happens to your data. The short version: nothing leaves your device.
What the extension does not do
It does not collect, store or send any personal data.
It has no account, no analytics, no tracking and no advertising.
It does not send the content of your files or web pages to us or to anyone else.
It does not sell or share data, because it has none to share.
What stays on your device
Your documents. MD Beautifier reads the Markdown pages you open in Chrome to display them. Local files are read only after you turn on Chrome's "Allow access to file URLs" switch. Websites are read only after you enable each one yourself.
Your settings. Theme, font size, formatter rules and similar preferences are saved with Chrome's storage. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome syncs them across your own devices through your Google account. We never receive them.
Scroll positions. The last reading position of each file is stored on your device so you can continue where you left off.
Clipboard. Only when you click "Open clipboard as Markdown", the extension reads the clipboard once to show its text. Nothing is stored or sent.
Markdown Doctor's fixes are copied to your clipboard or downloaded as a new file. Your original files are never changed.
Web pages we open
MD Beautifier may open pages on digitaltrafficlabs.com: a welcome page after setup, a "What's new" page after a major update, and a short optional feedback form after you uninstall. These are ordinary web pages. Links carry campaign tags (for example utm_source=extension) so we can see that a visit came from the extension; they contain no personal data. Our website has its own privacy policy, and the newsletter there is separate and optional.
Permissions
Each Chrome permission the extension requests and why is listed in the Chrome Web Store listing under "Privacy practices". Optional permissions (websites, clipboard) are requested only when you use the feature that needs them.
Children
MD Beautifier does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
