This is the last of five thematic reports to be released weekly to monthly starting 26 September 2025. It discusses the lifestyle and ideological orientations of MCSR community members, informed by Census findings.
It consists of 3 chapters:
Chapter 1 addresses some data items omitted in previous Thematic Reports, like a follow-up survey item on the marketing and manpower problems in MCSR
Chapter 2 is about the lifestyle of Minecraft speedrunners. It covers topics from food and drink to hygiene and relationship status, running crosstabs where necessary. This chapter analyses a for-fun section (Section D) in the Census, and I am confident that this will be an entertaining read too.
Chapter 3 examines responses to Section E of the Census, grouped by four areas - social connectedness, optimism VS pessimism, real-life and in-game political orientations and perceptions of MCSR's lifecycle stage and nature.

This is the fourth of five thematic reports to be released weekly to monthly starting 26 September 2025. It discusses the state of the MCSR community, informed by Census findings.
It consists of 3 chapters:
Chapter 1 is about intra-community interaction dynamics, value-adding activities, stances on moderation and contains a breakdown of the community's favourite creators.
Chapter 2 makes some observations on intersections between MCSR and other MC subcommunities, speedrunning communities and games. It also offers a brief analysis of in-house conventions in an MCSR context.
Chapter 3 analyses responses to the three free-response questions in Section C, attempting to define 1) the spirit of speedrunning, 2) the spirit of MCSR, and 3) what pulls people towards MCSR (and prevents them from leaving). What does it mean to be a Minecraft speedrunner? What is the "thrill of the chase"? This chapter attempts to give an answer.

The report is intended for anyone interested in the inner workings of the Census, wishes to understand Census methodologies before using its data, or simply intends to comprehend the Census and its outcomes from an emic (inside-out) perspective. It describes various operational aspects of the Census from planning to data collection, processing and dissemination, and discusses the benefits and pitfalls of the strategies adopted in census design, data collection and analysis, especially in a primarily-online format.
The information given in this report supplements the other reports (Main Findings report and thematic reports to be released starting late September) that contain analysis of the Census’ findings, allowing users to better understand the data reflected in the 2025 Census.
