McGill24 Fundraiser for Palestinian Student Refugees

The MMAS is launching a fundraiser as part of McGill24 to support up to 2 Palestinian refugees to come study at McGill University starting 2025. Help us build a better future for Palestinians by making a tax-deductible donation on March 13th (donations made on that day will be partially matched by McGill!)

The McGill CCIQ Memorial Award: Panel Discussion

Join us on McGill's downtown campus for an inspiring and sobering discussion with a panel of McGill Muslim women alumni, who will share their experiences and work advocating for the rights of Muslims in Canada. The panellists are all recipients of the McGill CCIQ Memorial Award, which supports McGill students who work to increase Muslim inclusion in Canadian society and counter Islamophobia.

MMAS Homecoming event with Sameer Zubeiri and Zapaer Alip

Join us on McGill's downtown campus as we celebrate the 3rd MMAS Homecoming event! This year's theme will be focusing on advocating for justice, with an eye on the efforts of our guest speakers to provide relief and support to some of the oppressed and marginalized groups around the world.

Zakat Seminar with IDRF

In preparation for Ramadan 2023, the MMAS is collaborating with IDRF to present a seminar on the rules and benefits of Zakat in Islamic Law. This seminar will help young and experienced Muslim professionals learn how to responsibly manage their wealth and meet their religious obligations.

The MMAS also announced their Chaplaincy Program initiative spearheaded by the Mont Lumiere Foundation.

MAA Award Ceremony 2021

The McGill Alumni Association has honored the MMAS with the "Alumni Event of the Year Award" for 2020, thanks to the success of the MMAS Homecoming 2020 event, "Celebrating McGill Muslim Alumni", featuring Mr. Mohamad Ashour.

MMAS  co-President, Dr. Ahmer Wali, received the award on behalf of the MMAS  executive team.

McGill CCIQ Memorial Award Fundraiser

On March 10th, 2021, the MMAS launched a virtual fundraiser as part of the McGill24 campaign to support the endowment of the McGill CCIQ Memorial Award. 

Thanks to the generosity of MMAS members and others, the fundraiser target was exceeded and more than $62,000 were raised!

2nd MMAS Alumni-Student Mixer

The MMAS is proud to have hosted the second Alumni-Student Mixer! 

Back by popular demand, the Mixer allowed current students and recent grads to meet with McGill alumni to discuss topics related to academic and professional life. By the grace of God, 40 students and alumni got to connect, reminisce and discuss together on issues that affected careers, studies and personal experience.

Homecoming 2020: Celebrating McGill Muslim Alumni

The MMAS is proud to present its very first participation in the McGill Homecoming celebrations! 

Under the theme of "Celebrating McGill Muslim Alumni", the event included a keynote address by entrepreneur Mohammed Ashour (MSc'11, MBA'19) , and a virtual networking session where 50 alumni got a chance to connect and re-connect.

Dealing with COVID: A 3-Dimenstional Approach

The MMAS is proud to present its very first virtual event! 

A panel of McGill alumni experts addressed some of the challenges that we face as we cope with the pandemic. They covered issues concerning three dimensions of life: the spiritual, the mental and the professional.

MMAS Inaugural Event

Held at McGill's downtown campus, the MMAS Inaugural event welcomed a group of its first members to enjoy delicious food, get re-acquainted with old friends, make new ones and share ideas and dreams of how the MMAS can be a source of benefit for students and alumni alike.

Members suggested starting a LinkedIn Group to get to know one another, organizing events with McGill student groups to bolster student-alumni relations and shared ideas of how to raise funds to support the MMAS activities.
