Our Band Program consists of Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Drumline, and AP Music Theory. Other performing groups outside of these classes include Pep Band and Percussion Ensemble. Students of all levels are encouraged to join the Band Department. There is a place for everyone, despite skill level. 

All students are invited to participate in the Solo & Ensemble competition, a classical-style event for solo performers (often with an accompanist) and small ensembles. 

As usual, there are several honor band opportunities, including All-State and All-City. Auditions for these prestigious bands take place in the fall.

Performing groups perform at McDaniel, and in the community. Wind Ensemble is the audition band. Symphonic Band is open to any student, prior experience is recommended. Jazz Ensemble is offered for students that play guitar, bass, piano, and other jazz instrumentation. Drumline and AP Music Theory is recommended to any student, despite experience. The Pep Band performs at football and basketball games. Percussion Ensemble is not a class for credit, but open to all students in the Band Department, and performs in the PIL solo/ensemble festival, and in the Fall, Winter, and Spring concerts.
