Mccree Arm Foam tutorial

Before getting started, these are the materials I used for making this arm:
Amsterdam paint. This paint is very high quality and I'm it's satisfying to work with.
2mm and 5mm EVA foam from cosplayshop, high density (their material is so nice!) go check it out
Flexbond primer, also from cosplayshop
hot glue
I also used a heat gun and a dremel.
So, I started off with bying a black glove and a black sleeve (it's made out of a black panty sort of thing, like showed under) for the base of the arm.
After I putted a plastic glove over the black glove (the ones you can throw away) and started drawing the pattern on it. Don't mind the little mistakes that I drew on it :p
After, I cutted these pieces out of the glove and used them as a pattern for the hand part of the arm. So, put the pattern on the 2mm foam and cut the patterns out.
After I cutted them, I had to make sure they fitted, so I already putted the fingers parts on the glove. The cutting though, it didn't go as smooth as I thought (you have to have a really good fabric cutting scissors) so I had to make some changes on my own for the patterns to be more decent. Gladly it worked out :p
The next step was getting the patterns for my hand. I just used paper to draw these patterns on, and I did it by putting the paper on my glove while I was wearing it.
After, it's just cutting them out of the 2mm foam and primer it, ready to get painted after. I used some signs for myself so I can remember which part needs to be added where afterwards.
Next up, the arm. For this, I putted the sleeve on where the foam was gonna be placed up upon. Then I measured with a measuring tape to get the patterns drawn on paper once again. After, I started cutting them out of the foam, glueing everything together that needed to be put on top of each other and then primering and painting into the right colors.
Sooo, next up is glueing it all together. First I putted the hand together and checked if everything fitted right. Here and there I had to cut a little bit of foam away to make it fit better PS be warned: glueing when you have the glove on is hot! Be careful ;)
I clued everything on the sleeve I was talking about earlier. For the part most under, the upper side didn't matter that much wince it was gonna get covered, so I could glue that easely. For the part above that (light silver part), I had to use the heat gun to make the shape more round since the foam was thicker (5mm, every other oart of the arm is 2mm). Then it was just adding the skeleton part.
And that's how far it stands now, putting on what I got. How happy I already was with this :D The next part though, I was getting a bit stressed by searching how to do the upper part of his arm. So I searched on internet and waited few days before continuing.
After everything I searched, I kinda did my own thing cause the thing I tried before that (which I saw on the internet), failed dramatically :p So I just thought to make it simple. I cutted 2 circles (10mm foam) and a rectangle (5mm foam) and just clued these 3 parts together. I had to use some duct tape to make sure the round part stayed put. I covered it with 2mm so that the tape was not visible anymore. Next step was getting the circles in the middle of the circles xD You'll see it on later.
Next up was getting parts out so I could fit my arm in. I drew them on the foam and then cutted it out with my dremel.
Then I had to get these 2 cylinders, so I used the same trick as for the bigger base part. These two things you see in the picture on the left (you know, that thing on top of a bottle, can't find the name), were used as a base to create them. I clued them together and then clued it on the big part. I used Kwik Seal to fill the gaps.
Next up was some detail work. So there is a lot of dremeling used for this part. In the picture on the right, you can aslo see I got little gaps in it, these are also done with the dremel.
I noticed there were some parts I also needed to cut out, so I drew it and cutted them out with my dremel. This was kinda easy, since the 2mm layer came off easily :)
Then there were the last parts I still needed to add. So first, I drew and cutted out the part for the wrist. I still needed to add that. This is made of 5mm foam, parts glued together, primed and painted.
Mccree has some sort of wire in the back of the arm, so I went to my attic to search through old stuff and hey, I found what I needed :D A black wire, full under dust, no use for it anymore. I cutted the length I needed and then added 2 mm foam on the ends of the wire.
The little parts you can see in the right corner below, are the joints for the hand part. I almmost forgot about them, I made them already though, so they only needed to get painted :)
For adding the upper part of the arm, I made another little sleeve to put on so when I fold my arm, you can see a little black of the sleeve, and not my flesh ^^ Cause you know, that part goes onto the elbow and folding the elbow makes the part move a little bit.
So for the final step, it was painting the upper part and then glueing all the parts together aaaaannnd TADAAA! Finished :D
Have a taste of my first try out from the cosplay with the stuff I have made already ^^
