REAL Christmas Trees Benefit the Environment
Evergreens absorb carbon dioxide and other gases while releasing fresh oxygen.
Christmas tree farms stabilize soil, protect water supplies, provide habitat for wildlife, and preserve beautiful green spaces.
Many trees are grown on land that may not be suitable for other agricultural crops.
REAL Christmas Trees are Renewable
For every tree harvested, growers typically plant one to three new seedlings to replace it.
Artificial trees are primarily made from petroleum-based plastics.
REAL Christmas Trees are 100% Recyclable
After the holidays, real trees can be recycled into mulch, used for wildlife habitat, or repurposed in other ways.
Artificial trees are not biodegradable and can remain in landfills for centuries after they are discarded.
REAL Christmas Trees are made in the USA
Real Christmas trees are grown right here in the United States by American farmers.
Choosing a real tree supports U.S. farms, local businesses, and communities.

Make a fresh cut on the trunk, removing about ½ inch from the base.
Place the tree in water as soon as possible.
Fresh-cut trees drink a lot of water, especially the first few days.
Keep the tree away from fireplaces, heaters, and other heat sources
Check the water level daily and ensure the base of the trunk stays submerged.
Turn off tree lights when leaving the house or going to bed.
Monitor the tree for dryness. When it appears dry, remove it from the house.
With proper care, a fresh-cut tree can last for many weeks.
Place the root ball in a plastic or metal tub while indoors.
Water regularly and monitor moisture daily.
Do not keep a live tree indoors for more than 2–3 weeks.
Avoid moving the tree directly from a warm home to freezing temperatures.
Transition the tree in an unheated porch or garage for a few days.
If the ground is unfrozen, plant the tree as soon as possible.
