About Department :

The  Department of Arabic Malda College  was established in 1944 with  Pass Course . The first faculty of the Department was Prof. Sanaullah, one of the founding members of the college and played a great role to shift the college from Bangladesh to Malda, WB, India . He had been serving here from 1944 to 1970. Then Prof. Sahabuddin was appointed as a lecturer in 1970 and he had been serving here till 1995 . After his retirement Prof. Saifuddin joined the Department and had been working here till 2008. The honours course started in  2007 . After a long academic journey now department of Arabic is one of the renowned departments of the college . Now a large  number of students come here to study Arabic language and literature  from different parts of Malda and neighboring districts like  Dinajpur(North/South),  Mursidabad, Birbhum etc . 

Now the Department has 4 distinguished faculty members and intake capacity of 147 students for honours course and provide Arabic as an optional paper for all other B.A. Hons and General courses.
