I purchased a new laptop (running windows 8.1 RT x64 bit) which came with mcafee pre-installed. I had a spare Avast! licience so went to uninstall Mcafee. However I'm now getting blank error dialogs on start up and occasionally throughout the day. I suspected these are caused by Mcafee because I have the same problem on my old windows 7 desktop.

How am I able to go about fully uninstalling McAfee? My first guess would be to reinstall and reattempt an uninstall. I cannot remember if I used the windows/iobit/McAFee uninstaller (if the latter is applicable) to uninstall McAfee.

I'm trying to install a file I know as a fact is secure, and mcafee is stopping it. Even without this issue I know mcafee is shit. There's no option in mcafee to turn off real time protection. There's no option in the tray to exit mcafee. In task manager nothing happens when I try to end task. And the kicker is when I try uninstalling, it freezes and never finishes.

I am really frustrated. I even tried using Revo Uninstaller. Whenever I try to uninstall the free trial program of Macafee "McAfee Security", the program that should pop up, the mcafee uninstaller, shows up as blank/white. I've tried restarting my computer. I also can't even end the mcafee processes or end the services. When I try, I get the "access denied" error message. I even get that error message when I try to end the processes/services via command prompt. I'm at a loss of what to do honestly. I just wanna get rid of this program.

McAfee Total protection and its uninstaller will not open on a Macbook using Sierra 10.12.6. Additionally, VShieldScanManager is on 99.9% CPU. I'm not really sure what to do anymore, as even sending McAfee and the uninstaller to the trash still lets VShieldScanManager wreak havoc, and I'm assuming it's also eating up my battery life. Does anyone else have this issue/ know a fix?

McAfee will not be removed by trashing from Applications folder. That needs to be used by uninstaller app available from Applications folder. Kindly re-install McAfee using the article TS101226 and let us know if you still facing any issues.

Long thread on uninstalling McAfee with their uninstaller tool and it freezing here: -General-Discussions/McAfee-Remover-frozen/td-p/525237/highlight/true . Try what is shown in the following posting first:

I need to remove McAfee Endpoint Security from my iMac and am unable to do so. When moving the app to my Trash I see the error "The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items". The related McAfee article mentions using an uninstaller but there is no such item in my Applications folder. Norton provides a .command removal product but it isn't effective - running it results in the error: "Failed to delete that file" file: /usr/local/McAfee/AntiMalware/VShieldScanner it is also unable to delete /usr/local/McAfee directory.

I bought bitdefender total security instead of Mcafee for the fist time and installed it on the first 2 computers without a problem after uninstalling mcafee and running MCPR to clean the remains.

Can I just add/remove programs and it removes it 100&? Someone I heard said mcafee doesn't uninstall itself 100% and you should use revo uninstaller to remove it fully. Anyone know if that is true or not? I have no use of mcafee and do not want it on my computer. Rather use the windows defender that comes along with it.

If you just throw the McAfee into your Trash folder, it won't uninstall the app but just delete the icon. Moreover, you cannot find a McAfee uninstaller. Instead, you need to follow the steps below to delete McAfee from Mac completely.

Next, make sure you get a backup device. I like Zip drives, which cost about $75 for an internal version. Zip drive, tape drive -- even floppies, if you must -- -the point here is to safeguard your data on media that can be stored away from your machine. Assign a few dollars for an uninstaller, such as McAfee's Uninstaller Deluxe 6.0 ($30) and an anti-virus package if one isn't installed on the computer. 2351a5e196
