What is Parents as Teachers?

Parents as Teachers is a parent education and support program for families with children from birth to kindergarten entry, as well as expectant parents. It is designed for parents  to help their child learn, grow and develop to realize his/her full potential. 

Parents as Teachers Vision:  All Children will learn, grow and develop to realize their full potential.

Parents as Teachers Mission:  PAT promotes the optimal early development, learning and health of children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers.

Any family in the Montgomery Co. R-II or Wellsville-Middletown R-I School District can take advantage of our services for FREE:

Mommy and Me Infant Group 

New this year!  Stephanie will be hosting a Mommy (or daddy, grandma, etc.) and Me Infant Group. Each morning we'll have a topic up for discussion and also some fun activities for babies ages birth to one. The infant group will be held at the Montgomery City Library from 8:45-9:45am.  The following dates are scheduled:

November 16, 2023 March 21, 2024

2024 Spring Screening Dates

Preschool Screenings at Montgomery City and Jonesburg elementary will be held for all children who are 4 years old by July 31, 2024

Jonesburg Elementary School: 

Preschool Screening March 20, 2024

Kindergarten Screening April 5, 2024

Montgomery City Elementary: 

Preschool Screening March 13, 2024

Kindergarten Screening April 3, 2024

Wellsville-Middletown Preschool and Kindergarten Screening is for children ages 4 years old by July 31, 2024 for preschool and age 5 by July 31, 2024. 

Wellsville Elementary: 

Preschool and Kindergarten Screening February 29th and March 1, 2024

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

Get FREE BOOKS delivered to your mailbox every month!

Montgomery Co. is an affiliate of the Dolly Parton Foundation.  Dolly's Imagination Libary is available to children living in our county.  Each month an age appropiate book is mailed to children ages birth to five. Children recieve their last book the month they turn five.

Many of these opportunities don't require a library card. If you live in the Montgomery City limits a library card is free!  They have a spacious children's area that is very toddler friendly with lots of board books, small tables and lots of great interactive toys. Starting for preschoolers they have STEM bags to check out. These bags are full of hands on activities, books and toys to help expand your child's imagination jump start their learning.
