MUTM to WGS84Transformation parameter from MUTM to WGS84

The projection system used in Nepal is Modified Universal Transverse Mercator or MUTM. It is preferred for all the data and cadastral surveys due to it increased accuracy. But all the data taken by GPS and base maps like goolge earth uses Global geographic coordinate system (GCS).

Hence when we use the data with MUTM projection we have to re project it so that it aligns with base maps used in GIS software

Here is the way to Transform the data from MUTM to WGS84 in ArcGIS

Create the Rule

Use Arc Toolbox>Data Management Tools>Projections and Transformations>Create Custom Geographic transformationGive following transformation parameterGeographic Transformation NameMUTM_to_WGS [Or any name as per convenience]
Input Geographic Coordinate System: ModifiedUTM_84 [Select from data]
Output Geographic coordinate System: GCS_WGS_1984
Method: MOLODENSKY
Parameter:x: 293.17y: 726.18z: 245.36

Project using the rule

Use Arc Toolbox>Data Management Tools>Projections and Transformations>ProjectIn the Input Dataset or Feature Class select the data

In Output coordinate System selectGCS_WGS_1984
Previously created MUTM_to_WGS should be available
Click OK and the file will be create
