At an optimum range of #D5, both Megurine Luka and SONiKA jointly hold the title of second highest VOCALOID2 vocal.
Luka's vocal does not collapse on fast passages when used in V2. This is owed to her strong bass.
When imported into VOCALOID3 or 4, she becomes prone to collapsing and skipping notes at higher BPMs.
Luka suffers from sounding tight-throated on higher pitches. She is much more prone to tone collapse on higher notes as a result.
Altering the GEN factor higher than GEN 96, makes Luka head towards the collapse of her vocal. At GEN 100, her treble will fail completely, making decreases of volume at this point more difficult.
Being the first case of a bilingual voicebank to exist within VOCALOID, it came with a number of first time issues.
One of which is the notable weakness of one language over the other. In this case, her English is considered weaker than her Japanese.
Her English also has a slight tonal difference and pronunciation issues.
The softness of her English can create issues with pronunciations and clarity.
The English vocal's pronunciations are softer and less clear than the Japanese vocal.
Both voicebanks have an issue with quietness and can mumble at times. This is a bigger issue with her English bank
She is the only other English female VOCALOID2 voicebank besides Prima to have breaths included in her voicebank.
Both optimum range and tempo are identical for both English and Japanese, and as a result, they have relatively the same capabilities.
Her Dark L has a syllabic behavior, allowing use on its own and extending its duration.
She does not have the capabilities to roll the R sound and is the only English VOCALOID2 voicebank besides Sweet ANN to not have it.
Because her English dictionary is more limited than other English VOCALOID2 voicebanks, knowing only 2,200 thus she knows the least amount of words out of all released VOCALOIDs, an extra dictionary was later released.
Her English has some broken transitions, mainly between vowels. This may be due to a possible lack of samples.
At the time that Luka was recorded, her voice provider was competent in English.
Her accent is much less notable than her v4 English.
She is pretty choppy in general, and that does take a bit of tuning and phoneme editing to fix.
In V2, she can pronounce [@] by itself.
Her [l] behaves as a syllabic consonant.
Luka was intended to be a moody and soft sounding vocal and was voice acted.
