If you want a dedicated pair of wired, noise-isolating earphones designed specifically for sleeping and long-duration listening without your own battery or Bluetooth latency, choose MAXROCK Noise Isolating Sleeping; if you need to upgrade the fit and comfort of your existing Apple AirPods 1st or 2nd generation for TV watching or daily use, choose COMPLY SoftCONNECT.
These two products serve fundamentally different purposes in the audio landscape. One is a complete hardware solution built for passive isolation and rest, while the other is an accessory engineered to solve the common issue of loose-fitting wireless earbuds. The choice between them isn't about which brand is better overall, but rather which specific problem you are trying to solve right now.
• MAXROCK Noise Isolating Sleeping: Strengths include its full silicone design that blocks ambient noise like snores and traffic while providing a secure, weightless fit for side-sleeping; trade-off is that it requires a wired connection and lacks active wireless convenience. This pick is for audiobook listeners, travelers, and anyone needing deep isolation during sleep.
• COMPLY SoftCONNECT: Strengths lie in its unique non-memory foam material that offers a secure grip on Apple AirPods without the compression fatigue of traditional foam, improving sound quality and stability; trade-off is that it is strictly an accessory and cannot function as headphones on its own. This pick is for Apple AirPods owners who struggle with earbud retention and comfort.
• Who buys what: Choose MAXROCK if you need a standalone device for sleep and travel. Choose COMPLY if you already own compatible Apple earbuds and want to fix their fit.
The MAXROCK unit is not just another pair of earbuds; it is a specialized tool designed around the physical constraints of lying down. The core of its design philosophy revolves around the "total silicon house," a patent-pending construction where the entire earpiece is molded from incredibly soft silicone. This isn't a hard plastic shell with a foam tip attached; it is a continuous, flexible structure that inserts gently into the ear canal. For someone who tries to read or listen to podcasts while lying on their side, this design is transformative. Hard plastic buds often dig into the cheekbone or cause pain after twenty minutes, but the MAXROCK distributes pressure so evenly that you can forget they are there.

The audio performance is driven by ultra-small 5mm dynamic drivers. While small, these drivers are tuned to deliver crisp and crystal-clear sound across a wide range of music styles, ensuring that audiobooks remain intelligible and music retains detail despite the tiny size. The frequency response spans from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, covering the full spectrum of human hearing. What makes this truly effective for sleep is the double-layer noise isolating earpad. This dual-layer system acts as a passive barrier against environmental sounds, effectively blocking out snoring, talking, and machine noise. You do not need batteries or electronics to achieve this silence; the physical seal does all the work.
This product is ideal for the traveler who needs to block out airplane cabin noise or the person living in a shared apartment who needs to mask the sound of a partner or roommate. It includes a universal built-in microphone, making it functional for calls and media control on most smartphones, including iPhone and Samsung devices. However, it is strictly a wired solution with a 3.5mm plug and a cord length of 120mm. If you require true wireless freedom or plan to charge these overnight, this is not the device for you. It is best suited for those who value a zero-latency, zero-battery life experience over wireless convenience.
The COMPLY SoftCONNECT serves a very different audience: the owner of first or second-generation Apple AirPods or generic EarPods who has never been satisfied with how they sit in their ears. Standard Apple earbuds are notorious for feeling loose, especially during movement or when worn for extended periods. These replacement tips are engineered by hearing experts to address exactly that frustration. Unlike traditional memory foam tips that must be rolled and compressed before insertion, the SoftCONNECT uses a unique non-memory foam construction. This means you simply slide them onto your earbuds, and they expand naturally to fill the ear canal without the tedious prep work required by standard foam.
The primary benefit here is stability. The patented silicone sleeve ensures the tips attach securely to the Apple AirPods 1st & 2nd Gen, preventing the annoying habit of constantly readjusting them during a workout or while walking. This secure fit also enhances the acoustic seal, which improves both bass response and noise isolation. Because the tips are made of a specialized non-memory foam, they provide a comfortable fit for all-day listening without causing the ear fatigue often associated with stiff foam or slippery silicone. They are lightweight, weighing only 2 grams for the pair, ensuring they do not add noticeable bulk to your existing setup.
However, it is crucial to understand that this is not a pair of headphones. It is a set of replacement tips. You must already possess compatible Apple AirPods (Gen 1 or 2) or generic models of comparable size to use them. They are not compatible with AirPods Pro or newer models due to differences in shape and charging requirements. Additionally, they must be removed before charging your earbuds, adding one extra step to your daily routine. This product is perfect for the commuter or gym-goer who loves the sound of their Apple earbuds but hates the way they fall out. It is also a great option for TV watchers who find the standard Apple buds too uncomfortable for long sessions.

• Best for TV watching with a single device → MAXROCK Noise Isolating Sleeping, offering a dedicated, comfortable path for long viewing sessions without worrying about battery drain or signal lag.
• Best for maintaining your current wireless setup → COMPLY SoftCONNECT, allowing you to upgrade the comfort of your favorite AirPods without buying a whole new headset.
When I look at the specific use case of wireless open ear headphones for tv watching, I have to be realistic about what each product delivers. If your goal is to watch television comfortably without straining your neck or dealing with the annoyance of loose earbuds, the MAXROCK Noise Isolating Sleeping is the more robust choice for a dedicated listening experience. Its ability to block out background noise and its ergonomic design make it superior for long, uninterrupted viewing sessions, especially if you are lying down. It eliminates the latency issues sometimes found with cheaper Bluetooth transmitters and provides a consistent, high-quality audio experience through its 5mm drivers.
However, if you already own a pair of Apple AirPods 1st or 2nd generation and they feel like they are constantly slipping out of your ears, the COMPLY SoftCONNECT is the immediate fix you need. It transforms your existing wireless setup into something much more stable and comfortable. In my opinion, for a buyer who is torn between these two, the decision comes down to whether you need a new device or an upgrade for an old one. If you need a fresh start for sleep and TV watching, go with MAXROCK. If you just need to fix your current Apple earbuds, choose COMPLY.
The MAXROCK Noise Isolating Sleeping uses a wired 3.5mm connection, which eliminates any Bluetooth latency or audio delay, making it excellent for lip-sync accuracy during TV watching. The COMPLY SoftCONNECT relies on your existing AirPods' Bluetooth connection, so any lag depends on your specific device and transmitter, not the tips themselves.
No, the COMPLY SoftCONNECT tips are designed specifically for Apple AirPods 1st and 2nd Generation and generic EarPods. They are not compatible with AirPods Pro or newer models due to differences in the housing and charging mechanism.
No, the MAXROCK features a unique patent design with a total silicone house that fits gently and safely in the ears, offering secure placement that stays in place even when turning over during sleep.
To keep the COMPLY SoftCONNECT tips in top shape, you should clean them gently with warm water and a soft cloth or use a dedicated cleaning kit. Avoid alcohol-based cleaners or lotions, as these can degrade the non-memory foam material.
