"INSTRUMENTS OF DESTRUCTION"

When Soundwave was forged, he was forged as an outlier, granted powerful abilities of enhanced hearing and limited telepathy. However, Soundwave never learned how to control these abilities. Suffering, he would find himself homeless on the streets of Cybertron, having forgotten his name over all the stimuli. But salvation came in the form of three beastformers: Ravage, Laserbeak, and Buzzsaw. Together, the three of them taught Soundwave how to control his abilities.

Before the war, Soundwave would find himself forced into the employ of Senator Ratbat, being sent on the Senator’s behalf to provide funding and weapons for Megatron’s rising Decepticon movement. But where Ratbat only saw opportunity for profit, Soundwave saw a kindred spirit in Megatron, having read his thoughts and ascertaining that they hold the same beliefs. It would be that exchange of thoughts which lead to Soundwave to become a loyal follower of the Decepticon Cause. Soundwave, his loyal companions (now willingly reformatted into smaller bodies as to be stored within Soundwave’s chest and be deployed for combat), the Seekers, and Megatron killed the entire senate with the exception of Ratbat, whom Soundwave forcibly reformatted into a smaller beast-form as penance for Ratbat’s support of Functionism.

From then, Soundwave has been there for every step of the Decepticon Movement. Using his outlier powers, Soundwave would become the spymaster and head of communications for the Decepticons. Through his mini-con companions (and an unwilling Ratbat), Soundwave would see all and hear all, creating an expansive information network for the Decepticons.

Even as the war ravages Cybertron, and even as Earth becomes their new battleground, Soundwave continues to fight for the Decepticon Cause.
