Lara Lane-Kent is the child of three worlds. Her father, Superman, was a son of the doomed planet Krypton. Her mother, Lois Lane, was a daughter of the planet Earth. Lara would be their half-human, half-kryptonian daughter. When her powers would activate, Clark would teach her how to use them. In her early adolescence, she would take on the title of Supergirl, and fight by Superman's side. Her earliest battles established her as being legitimate in her own right, but nothing would prepare her, and her world, for what happens next.
What happened next would be the Anti-Monitor, a being who destroys universes to consume antimatter energy. It was a threat unlike any this world's Justice League had faced. They realized too late that victory wouldn't be possible, and the only option was evacuation.
There was a problem, however: there wasn't enough energy to save everyone. The Flash only had the time and power to send one person to an alternate world. The choice wasn't hard to make. Lara held her parents one last time, before being sent to another universe. She was fourteen years old. She left her world as the child of a doomed universe.
This new world Lara found herself in was similar in many ways, but different in just a few to remind her that it's not her world. Things were different in little ways. But some things always stayed the same, like her parents. The Clark and Lois of this world took Lara in, and raised her like she was their own daughter. Knowing she had people to look after her made the grieving process a little easier for her, but not by much.
Years later, Supergirl would fly again, ready to continue in her superheroics and honor the memories of her parents.

CANON
[Lara is technically a character from the Injustice Universe... but she only existed in the dreams of Injustice!Superman. A version of Lara is confirmed to exist in the multiverse, but little is known about that version and if she has anything in common with the version dreamed by Injustice!Superman. This is my own interpretation of Lara Lane-Kent in the Prime DC Universe. She's technically a canon character, but for all intents and purposes I'll be treating her as an OC since there's next-to-no information about her]
[Since Lara has only appeared in one issue, I will be also be using icons of Earth-11 Superwoman as a stand-in]
