The son of Batman and Talia Al Ghul, Damian spent his childhood training as a member of the League of Assassins under the watchful eye of Ra's Al Ghul, his grandfather. Raised in secret without his father's knowledge, Damian's world was one of violence and death. He was the Heir to the Demon, but it was a title he earned through trials and tests, each of them bearing their own scars and markings. He grew up being told that his killings would tame the world, and that when all is said and done, he will succeed his grandfather as the Demon's Head. This wasn't enough for Damian. He wanted to know his father.
At the age of nine, Talia Al Ghul would take her son to Gotham City, and Damian would meet his father: the fabled Batman of Gotham City. He was less than impressed. He thought his father a weak man with outdated methodologies and weaker allies. Regardless, Damian would stay in his father's home. Following the supposed "death" of his father, Dick Grayson would take on the mantle of Batman, and turn Damian into his Robin. It was with the persistence and steady hand of his older brother that Damian would be guided away from the teachings of the League of Assassins, and would come to not just follow the teachings and methods of his father, but truly believe in them as worthwhile aspirations. These teachings persisted, even after the return of his father and Damian taking his place as the Robin to his father's Batman. He had seen his past actions and beliefs as flawed.
His mother was content that her son had found a path to walk in life. Ra's Al Ghul was less than content. He gave Damian an ultimatum: embrace his role as the Heir to the Demon, or stand against the League of Assassins as the son of the Bat. Damian chose his nurture and stood against his grandfather. Ra's Al Ghul would declare war on Batman and his family. Among the weapons at the Demon's Head's disposal were a clone of Damian grown in an artificial womb called the Heretic. Damian would die fighting the Heretic to protect his family. He was eleven years old.
But like any member of the Al Ghul family, death would not hold him for long. Batman journeyed to the ends of the Earth, to the hellworld known as Apokolips and back in order to raise his son from the dead. He succeeded, and Damian rose from the grave. Damian resumes his role as Robin, defying the destiny his grandfather wanted for him. He has a new future now, and it is one made of his own choices.

CANON
[Damian is a very canon divergent muse]
[Ra's al Ghul plays a significantly larger role in Damian's childhood and upbringing, being one of the major driving forces during Damian's time among the League of Assassins. Talia, conversely, tried to keep Damian out of that life before ultimately sending him to Bruce. This means that Damian has no major ill will towards Talia, but conversely regards Ra's al Ghul extremely negatively]
[Damian is not home schooled by Alfred nor is he attending Gotham High. He is currently attending Gotham Academy and lives in the dorm, albeit he returns to the manor for the weekends. In addition, I write Damian as being in a relationship with another one of my muses, Maps Mizoguchi. Furthermore, I write Damian as demisexual, with him only out to a select few]
[Almost nothing from the DC: Rebirth era is canon to my blog. With the exception of Dark Nights: Metal, Dark Nights: Death Metal, and Super Sons, anything that directly references the Rebirth era will be treated as either a rumor or something else in the multiverse]
[Damian's canon and characterization is heavily influenced by Peter J. Tomasi's Batman & Robin; Patrick Gleason's Robin: Son of Batman; Joshua Williamson's Robin; Joshua Williamson's Batman & Robin; and Juni Ba's The Boy Wonder]
HERETIC
Damian has outgrown the identity of Robin. At the age of eighteen, he is aware that he has simply phased out of the mantle, and it's time to give it up. There is no shame in that, it is only natural to change with the progression of time. Yet Damian finds himself lost. Ever since the age of ten, he has identified himself as the boy wonder. He doesn't know what to do without it. He meditates on his life, and focuses on his death. He thinks of the Heretic, both of the definition of the word and his clone who called himself such, and his new identity became clear. Damian was already treated as an outcast among the League of Assassins, so the name fit based on the definition. In addition, Jason had set a precedent for reclaiming the identity of your killer for yourself. Finally, Damian thinks about the clone, and how he never had the chance to be his own person. It wasn't a question anymore. He would embrace his status as an outcast from the League of Assassins, and take up the name of the Heretic.
[Damian is anywhere between his late teens and late 20s in this AU]
BATMAN IN BETHLEHEM
The time has come, and Damian Wayne has inherited his birthright at long last. He is vengeance, he is the night, he is Batman. And Batman is needed more than ever, as Gotham burns.
[Damian is anywhere between his 30s and his 50s in this AU]
[This AU is inspired by, but not set in, the timeline depicted in Batman #666. I take elements from that timeline but largely go in my own direction]
NOBLE DEMON
The legacy of Ra’s Al Ghul would chase Damian for the rest of his days. For as much good as he does, he can never escape the legacy of being Hafid Al Ghul: Grandson of the Demon. Yet, he needs to try. However, the old guard cannot be allowed to stand.. Breaking his vow in striking down his grandfather, he has taken over the League Of Assassins. Yet, he still held himself to a code of honor -another solemn vow- he would never be anything like his grandfather. He would be a different kind of demon... a noble demon.
[Damian is in his mid 30s or older in this AU]
[This AU is inspired by, but not set in, the timeline seen in Batman Beyond Rebirth. I take elements from that timeline, such as Damian trying to reform the League of Assassins, but largely go in my own direction]
TEENAGE WASTELAND
His father was broken, this time for good. Much as the greatest doctor's money could buy tried, he could not be stitched back together again. This would leave a bat-shaped hole in Gotham City; one which demanded to be filled. Out of respect and necessity, Damian Wayne takes on the title of Batman, far from ready to take on the challenges that came with the cape and cowl. His sister, Cassandra Cain, would take on the mantle as well, bringing Batman back to Gotham.
[Damian is anywhere from 16-19 in this AU]
