"I AM MACHINE"

Like all other members of the Lin Kuei, Cyrax was abducted from his home as a child. He was taught how to fight, and became a master assassin at the hands of the Lin Kuei. He would frequently work with fellow member of the Lin Kuei and son of the grandmaster, Sektor. The two never got along, per se, but they worked well together.

Both he and Sektor, along with fellow Lin Kuei assassin Bi-Han, were selected to represent Earthrealm in the Mortal Kombat tournament. Behind the scenes, however, the Cyber Initiative came into being. The idea is that each member of the Lin Kuei would be turned into a cybernetic warrior, to be used at the discretion of the Lin Kuei. Cyrax opposed this idea. Sektor was a proponent of it. Following the tournament, Cyrax attempted to leave the clan, yet was caught and turned into a cyborg against his will. It wouldn't be until almost twenty years later, when Kuai Liang, the second Sub-Zero, would be able to restore Cyrax's free will. When Sektor was defeated, Cyrax made the choice to activate the self-destruct protocols of the entire clan, eliminating the Cyber Lin Kuei once and for all.

Kronika would have other plans, shifting the timeline and bringing Cyrax back from the dead, along with Sektor. Once again, he would lose his free will and be forced into supporting the clan once more. And history would repeat itself once again, as Kuai Liang frees Cyrax, and once again he self-destructs to bring down the Cyber Initiative once and for all.

And, like history beforehand has proven, death is not the end for Cyrax...
