If you want wired reliability with deep noise cancellation for focused travel, choose Maxell 190400; if you need a durable, kid-safe wireless pair with massive battery life, choose iClever BTH27.
These two devices sit at opposite ends of the headphone spectrum, serving completely different audiences and use cases. One is a legacy audio tool built for adults who prioritize silence in chaotic environments, while the other is a modern, robust solution designed specifically to protect young ears during school and play. There is no middle ground here; buying the wrong one means missing out on the specific features that matter most to your daily routine.
• Maxell 190400: Its greatest strength is the patented Noisebuster technology that actively cancels up to 95% of ambient noise, making it ideal for quieting airplane engines or construction sites. The biggest trade-off is its reliance on wired connectivity and AAA batteries, which limits portability without power sources. This pick is for the adult traveler or commuter who needs total silence.
• iClever BTH27: Its standout feature is the industry-leading 74-hour battery life paired with USB-C fast charging and Bluetooth 5.4 stability, ensuring kids stay connected all day. The primary limitation is its "on-ear" design and volume limiting, which prioritizes safety over high-fidelity audio for audiophiles. This pick is perfect for parents seeking safe, long-lasting headphones for children.
The Maxell 190400 is not just a pair of headphones; it is a dedicated noise-cancellation machine built for the adult who values auditory privacy above all else. At its core lies the proprietary Noisebuster technology, which uses tiny microphones within each earpiece to detect environmental sounds like engine hums or traffic roar. These microphones feed data to an inline audio-enhancer pack that generates a precise "anti-noise" wave. When this wave meets the unwanted sound, they cancel each other out, reducing ambient noise by up to 95%. This is a mechanical and electronic marvel that works continuously as long as you have power, making it an essential companion for flights, buses, or busy offices where silence is a luxury.

For college students who are looking for bluetooth head phones but prefer a wired setup to avoid pairing issues, this model offers a unique alternative. However, the experience is strictly defined by its wired nature. You plug in via a mini-phone jack, and the device runs on two AAA batteries (not included) that promise over 50 hours of continuous use. This longevity is impressive, but it requires you to manage physical batteries rather than relying on a rechargeable lithium-ion cell. The headphones fold for storage and come with a travel pouch and a dual-prong adapter for airline entertainment systems, signaling that this product was engineered with the frequent flyer in mind.
You should buy the Maxell 190400 if you are an adult or older student who spends significant time in noisy transit and wants to listen to soft jazz, classical music, or podcasts without distraction. The over-ear cups provide a secure seal, and the frequency response range of 10Hz to 28kHz ensures a wide sonic window. However, you should skip this product if you are looking for wireless freedom, if you need to charge your device via USB-C, or if you are shopping for a child. The lack of Bluetooth and the reliance on disposable batteries make it less suitable for modern, on-the-go lifestyles that demand instant connectivity.
The iClever BTH27 is a purpose-built device for the younger generation, specifically designed to withstand the rigors of school, travel, and active play while keeping their hearing safe. Unlike the Maxell, which focuses on silencing the world, the iClever focuses on controlling what enters the ear. It features a dual-mode volume limiter set to either 75dBA or 80dBA, adhering to World Health Organization guidelines for safe listening. The 75dBA mode is tailored for younger children with delicate ears, while the exclusive Sound Refiner technology softens harsh frequencies between 2K and 4KHz. This ensures that even when music is loud enough to be enjoyable, it does not contain the sharp peaks that can damage hearing over time.
Battery anxiety is a real problem for parents and students alike, but the iClever BTH27 solves this with a staggering 74-hour average battery life. A mere 10-minute charge via USB-C provides eight hours of playback, which is perfect for spontaneous road trips or long study sessions. The device also includes a 3.5mm AUX cord as a backup, so the music never stops even if the battery dies. Connectivity is handled by the latest Bluetooth 5.4 chip, offering a stable connection up to 33 feet away with minimal lag. This makes it an excellent choice for watching videos on tablets or listening to educational content without the frustration of dropouts.
This product is ideal for parents buying best usb c charging wireless earbuds for college students who are transitioning into independent living, or for guardians looking for best ear clip headphones for college students who need something rugged and safe. The design accommodates smaller heads with child-sized ear cups, a flexible headband, and 110-degree rotating ear cups. The extendable arms grow with the child, and the oversized buttons make operation simple for small fingers. While it is marketed for kids, its durability and safety features make it a smart, practical choice for any user who prioritizes hearing protection and battery endurance over high-end audiophile specs.

• Best for Modern Connectivity → iClever BTH27: Bluetooth 5.4 and USB-C charging align with current tech standards, whereas Maxell relies on a wired mini-phone jack.
• Best for Hearing Safety → iClever BTH27: Built-in volume limiters and frequency softening are critical for protecting developing ears, a feature absent in the Maxell.
• Best for Travel Comfort → Maxell 190400: The over-ear design and included airline adapter cater specifically to long-haul flight comfort and in-flight entertainment systems.
• Best for Durability and Adjustability → iClever BTH27: Flexible headbands, rotating cups, and kid-proof materials are designed to survive drops and daily wear better than the plastic build of the Maxell.
• Best for Budget-Conscious Power Users → iClever BTH27: Avoiding the recurring cost of AAA batteries and the need for a wired setup makes the iClever more cost-effective over time.
• Best for Audiophile Clarity → Maxell 190400: The wider frequency range (10Hz–28kHz) suggests a broader soundstage for those who care about musical detail over volume safety.
If I were buying these today for a college student navigating a busy campus and frequent commutes, I would reach for the iClever BTH27. The combination of wireless freedom, USB-C charging, and that incredible 74-hour battery life removes too many friction points to ignore. While the Maxell 190400 is a fantastic piece of engineering for blocking out noise, its wired requirement and reliance on disposable batteries feel outdated for a student who needs to charge quickly between classes and move around freely. The iClever's focus on safety and durability makes it the smarter, more versatile investment for the modern lifestyle.
They work well for focused studying in noisy libraries or on buses due to the strong noise cancellation, but the wired connection and battery requirements make them less convenient than wireless options for daily campus life.
It uses a dual-mode volume limiter (75/80dBA) and a Sound Refiner feature to soften harsh frequencies, ensuring the audio stays within safe listening levels recommended by health organizations.
No, the noise cancellation and audio processing require power from two AAA batteries. Without them, the headphones will not function, though some wired models allow bypassing the electronics (this model requires power for the enhancer).
Yes, it is built with BPA-free, kid-proof materials and a flexible headband that can handle everyday adventures, plus it folds flat for easy storage in a backpack.
