Mechanic and level design
With the prompt 'Repair', we decided to go for a co-op game where the players fix objects. Since the artists in the team specialized in 2D, we went with a platformer game.
To increase the importance of deviding tasks (leading to teamwork), each of the 3 characters can only fix 2 types of damages. This led to each player choosing a different path through the level to repair the objects.
During level design, my initial graphs showed which jumps the players could and couldn't make. After the initial setup with assets, I realized it would be fun to let players jump on eachother to get to hard-to-reach places.
To increase the challenge of the core gameloop (devide tasks -> choose path -> platform and repair), a timer was included. Finishing the level faster increased the amount of stars the players received.
This led to players wanting to replay levels to reach the full 3 stars, challenging their dexterity-based skills (platforming).
