Privacy Policy for Mawasta POS
Effective Date: June 29, 2026
Mawasta POS ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights when you use the Mawasta POS mobile application ("App").
By using Mawasta POS, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect and How We Use It
Mawasta POS is designed to process most of its data locally on your device. However, to provide specific features, we require access to certain device permissions and third-party services:
A. Contacts (READ_CONTACTS)
Why we need it: We request access to your contacts solely to allow you to quickly and easily add Customers or Suppliers to your store's database within the App.
How we use it: We only read the specific contact you select. We do not upload, share, or sell your contact list to our servers or any third party.
B. Camera and Storage (CAMERA, READ/WRITE EXTERNAL STORAGE)
Camera: Used strictly for scanning barcodes of products to speed up your checkout process and inventory management. We do not record or save photos from your camera.
Storage: Used to import/export inventory data (e.g., Excel/CSV files) and to save product images locally on your device.
C. Google Sign-In and Google Drive
Why we need it: We use Google Sign-In to authenticate your account so you can back up your store's database securely to your own Google Drive.
How we use it: We request the ../auth/drive.file scope. This means our App can only view and manage files that the App itself creates. We cannot and will not read, modify, or access any other personal files in your Google Drive.
Data Retention: Your backup data resides in your personal Google Drive account and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not store your backup data on our own servers.
D. Advertising Data (AdMob)
Our App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use your Advertising ID (Device ID), IP address, and other diagnostic data to provide personalized or non-personalized ads. You can manage your ad preferences or opt-out of personalized ads through your device settings (e.g., Google Settings > Ads).
E. Crash Reports and Diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics)
We use Firebase Crashlytics to monitor app stability and collect crash reports. If the App crashes, it automatically sends an anonymous crash log to Firebase. This log includes device information, operating system version, and the line of code that caused the crash. It does NOT contain your personal data or store's financial records.
F. Cloud Sync / Multi-Cashier Data (Supabase)
If you choose to use the Multi-Cashier or Cloud Sync features, your store's data will be securely synced to our cloud database (Supabase) to keep your devices in sync. We implement strict security measures to protect this data, and it is used exclusively to provide the synchronization service to you.
2. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services which may collect information used to identify you:
Google Play Services
Google AdMob
RevenueCat (for managing Premium/Subscription purchases)
Firebase Crashlytics (for app stability and crash reporting)
Supabase (for secure cloud data synchronization)
3. Data Security
The security of your data is important to us. Your store's transaction and inventory data are stored locally on your device (SQLite database) or backed up directly to your personal Google Drive. If you use the Cloud Sync feature, data is transmitted over secure, encrypted connections. We do not sell or share your store's private financial data with third parties.
4. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
