Mauro Mastrogiacomo is the principal research economist for the housing market at the Nederlandsche Bank, the Dutch national bank (DNB) and an Associate Professor at the Vrije Universiteit (VU). He holds a Master of Philosophy from Tinbergen Institute and a Ph.D. from the VU. His research includes analyses of household and consumer financial and labour market behaviour. His publications appear in academic journals such as the Journal of Applied Econometrics, Oxford Economic Papers, Real Estate Economics, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, and Labor Economics. Mauro worked at the CPB where he developed the microsimulation for labor supply. At DNB he has worked for the Financial Stability division and the Economic Policy department, before joining the research unit. At the VU he has taught, among others, Microeconomics, Labor Economics, Macroeconomics, Applied economics and has been a supervisor/tutor for bachelor, master and PhD students. Mauro is a fellow of Netspar and CERP. In 2024, he was listed among the top economists in the Netherlands by ESB.
