If you want a factory-integrated, tool-free solution for your Ford Super Duty or GM 5th-wheel prep truck in a mechanic shop setting, choose Maureen 60692; if you need a rugged, universal bolt-on mount that works across Dodge and other brands without relying on puck systems, choose Generic 61052.
• Generic 61052: Its biggest strength is its versatile plug-and-play bolt-on installation for a wide range of brands including Dodge, Ford, Chevy, and GMC regardless of puck presence; its trade-off is the heavier, permanent bed-mount nature which lacks the quick-release convenience of puck kits.
• Who each pick is for: The Maureen kit is ideal for shops managing fleets of late-model Super Duties and Silverados with factory hitches, while the Generic unit suits mechanics needing a universal fix for older trucks or those without pre-installed puck rails.
The Maureen 60692 is engineered specifically for the modern heavy-duty truck landscape where factory preparation is standard. This gooseneck hitch ball kit is not a universal afterthought; it is a precision component designed to integrate directly into the 5th-wheel prep package found in select Ford F-250 through F-450 models from 2013 to 2027, as well as the 2016-2026 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra HD lines. It even extends compatibility to the Nissan Titan XD for model years 2016 through 2024. If you work in a shop where these vehicles are common, this kit offers a level of integration that feels native to the vehicle's chassis.
What makes this kit particularly valuable for professional use is the "drop-in" capability. The design allows for quick installation and removal without the need for any tools. You simply place the components into the existing puck system, secure the quarter-turn locking mechanism, and you are ready to tow. This portability means a single unit can serve multiple trailers or be stored securely when not in use, keeping the truck bed clear.
However, this product is not for everyone. It strictly requires the factory OEM puck system. If a truck does not have the specific mounting points installed by the manufacturer, this kit will not fit. It is also not designed for general-purpose towing on non-prepped vehicles. Therefore, it is perfect for a mechanic shop specializing in Ford Super Duty, GM HD, or Nissan Titan XD fleets where the hardware is already present, but it is a poor choice for a shop dealing with a mixed inventory of older trucks or brands like Dodge that do not utilize this specific puck architecture.

In contrast, the Generic 61052 is built for versatility and brute-force reliability. Unlike the puck-dependent Maureen option, this unit utilizes a direct bolt-on approach. It is marketed as a plug-and-play replacement that connects via mounting points and an electrical connector, making it suitable for a broader spectrum of vehicles including Chevy, Dodge, Ford, and GMC. If your shop handles a mix of older models or vehicles where the factory puck system was never an option, this is the logical choice.
The design philosophy here focuses on durability and universality. The unit features a robust steel construction intended to withstand rigorous testing and long-term use. The folding mechanism allows the ball to be stowed away when not in use, though unlike the Maureen kit, this involves a more permanent structural modification to the truck bed rather than a removable puck insert. The color is black, and the unit count is one per package.
This product is best suited for shops that need a single, reliable solution for diverse clients who may own anything from a Dodge Ram to an older Ford F-Series. It removes the complexity of checking for specific year-range puck compatibility. However, because it is a bed mount, it generally requires bolting into the truck frame or bed structure. This makes it less convenient for shops that frequently swap equipment between different trucks or need to keep the bed completely unobstructed when the trailer is detached. It is a permanent fixture solution rather than a temporary add-on.
• Best for factory puck-equipped trucks → Maureen 60692, as it is designed specifically to slot into the 5th-wheel prep package of Ford, GM, and Nissan trucks.
• Best for universal brand coverage → Generic 61052, since it explicitly lists compatibility with Dodge alongside Ford, Chevy, and GMC, covering gaps left by puck systems.
• Best for tool-free, quick swaps → Maureen 60692, featuring a quarter-turn locking system and drop-in design that requires no bolts or wrenches.
• Best for permanent, rugged mounting → Generic 61052, offering a steel bed mount with a bolt-on installation that integrates directly with electrical connectors.
• Best for fleet maintenance on new models → Maureen 60692, given its specific fitment for 2013-2027 Ford and 2016-2026 GM/Nissan models.
• Best for mixed inventory shops → Generic 61052, providing a solution for older trucks or brands like Dodge that lack the required factory puck infrastructure.
• Best for storage and portability → Maureen 60692, which comes with a storage case and removable components, whereas the Generic unit is a fixed bed mount.
For a mechanic shop environment where efficiency and vehicle-specific compatibility are paramount, I would choose the Maureen 60692. In my opinion, the ability to install and remove the hitch without tools on the most common modern heavy-duty trucks saves significant labor time and keeps the workflow smooth. The fact that it fits the latest Ford Super Duties and GM Silverados right out of the box makes it the superior choice for a shop focused on current fleet maintenance. However, if your shop deals heavily with Dodge vehicles or older trucks lacking factory pucks, the Generic 61052 becomes the necessary backup plan. Ultimately, the Maureen kit offers a cleaner, more integrated experience for the majority of modern heavy-duty applications.
No, the Maureen 60692 is strictly designed for trucks equipped with the factory OEM puck system or 5th-wheel prep package; it will not fit a truck without these specific mounting points.
The Generic 61052 is described as a plug-and-play direct bolt-on replacement that uses existing mounting points and electrical connectors, suggesting a straightforward installation process typical of bed mounts.
The Generic 61052 is the better choice for a mixed fleet including Dodge, as the Maureen 60692 does not list Dodge compatibility and is limited to Ford, GM, and Nissan models with puck systems.
Yes, the Maureen 60692 features a drop-in design that allows for quick installation and removal without tools, and it includes a storage case for the components.
