Free Lecture: Major Amos Stoddard: Rendezvous with Destiny

May 28th

1:30 pm

Robert Stoddard pursued his interest in family genealogy and passion for American history. Since his ancestor first arrived in the Massachusetts Bay Colony area in 1639, his family history paralleled American history. It was during this time that he accidently came across papers regarding Amos Stoddard and the Stoddard family genealogy being held in the Missouri Historical Museum. Upon request, he received a photocopy the original autobiography manuscript of Major Amos Stoddard which had never been completely transcribed. He took the project upon himself. The results unveiled the incredible life story of Amos Stoddard and led to the writing of his book, The Autobiography Manuscript of Major Amos Stoddard.
