For ATL students to truly innovate, they need to have a bird's eye view of the powerful shifts taking place today and broad trends shaping the world of tomorrow in the areas of emerging technologies, innovations, products & services, entrepreneurial ventures, industrial advances, societal changes, economic upheavals, work, life & play in general (among many other areas).  Without the big picture, students often innovate things that have already been innovated, or build things that have already been built, productized, commercialized and available in the market.  Pretty much, they keep re-inventing the wheel.  Beyond satiating their creative appetite and gaining skills, re-inventing the wheel will not go very far in a hyper-competitive world.  If we can paint the big picture for ATL students. they will be better prepared to innovate.  We might even see some very valuable and game-changing innovations coming out young minds at the ATL.
