Summary: Put in place flash cards on product design principles & techniques so that ATL students can use them as a ready-reckoner to learn the art & rigor of product design at their own pace.
ATL students build prototypes as part of their tinkering and innovation projects at the ATL. However, they rarely get to learn how to design or build a product. Budding entrepreneurs among ATL students need to learn the art & rigor of product design in order to take their innovative prototypes towards commercialization. But they are not familiar with good design principles or techniques that enable them to convert their prototypes into a commercial-ready products. As such, it would be helpful to conduct skilling programs for ATL students in the area of product design.
However, merely conducting skilling sessions on product design is not enough. In fact, most traditional skilling programs fail to achieve their objectives as they involve intense learning over a short-duration of time. Most students find it challenging to absorb a lot of new information in a short span of time. Moreover, they cannot retain knowledge of a subject for which they haven't felt a need yet. The net result is, most students forget what they learnt a few days or weeks after the training program is over. For skilling to be effective, it has to be a slow and steady process. Skilling on product design principles & techniques has to happen over a period of time with learning content readily available for students to make use of - as and when they need them.
Flash cards are simple, but very effective learning aids that can be provided for ATL students to acquire knowledge & skills in product design principles & techniques as and when they need them and at their own pace.
Create interactive Flash Cards with QR Codes that provide tidbits of information, learning resources, tips & suggestions, and examples on product design principles & techniques. ATL students can refer to these flash cards as and when they need them. Students can scan the QR codes on a Flash Card to view online tutorials, videos, samples, or download templates. Flash Cards makes it possible for students to have all the information they need at their finger tips - as and when they need them. The skilling then becomes lot more effective than traditional training programs.

The following online tools can be used for creating interactive flash cards:
Canva or Google Slides for creating flash cards.
QRCodeMoney for creating QR codes to go with the flash cards.
Here, you will find 5 Flash Card decks on Product Design techniques that contain a total of 48 flash cards. Every flash card in the deck contains one or more QR codes, scanning which will open additional content & resources from online sources.
Have each Flash Card printed on an A4 or bigger sized poster-paper. Have them laminated if possible.
Place the Flash Cards in at a designated area (e.g., Entrepreneur's Station) in your ATL.
Students can refer to the Flash Cards to learn the art & rigor of product design.
