Summary: Conduct hands-on skilling sessions for ATL students to equip them with foundational skills in making & tinkering.
New students at the ATL lack basic skills in making & tinkering. As a result, they do not know where to start, and how to proceed, and what to do at the ATL. Often, they are overwhelmed and intimidated by the tinkering resources available in the ATL. Due to this, they shy away from the ATL and don't show up again. We need to make new students comfortable and familiar with the ATL environment as a first step. Once they are curious to know more, we can conduct hands-on skilling sessions on making & tinkering so that the students gain confidence to make, break & build things of interest to them, and bring their ideas to reality.
Conduct skilling sessions to equip ATL students in:
Exploratory Skills: Observing, imagining, inventive, design, story-telling, and creative thinking skills.
Making & Tinkering Skills: Usage of various tinkering resources & tools available in the ATL to make, break, tinker and build things of interest to students.
Specifically, skilling sessions and programs can be conducted for ATL students in the following areas:
Orientation to Atal Tinkering Labs
Observation Challenges
Design Challenges
Building Basic Electrical Components
Building Basic Electrical Circuits
Building Series & Parallel Electrical Circuits
Building Basic Electronic Components
Understanding Digital Sensors & Actuators
Building Arduino Micro-controller & Types
Learning Arduino Programming
Integrating Arduino with Sensors & Actuators
Working on Arduino based Projects
Step 1: The following resource materials can be used to orient students to Atal Tinkering Labs and its activities:
Step 2: The following resource materials can be used to equip ATL students with observation skills and design skills:
Step 3: The following resource materials can be used to equip ATL students with tinkering skills in electrical and electronic circuits, sensors, actuators and micro-controllers:
Step 4: The following resource materials can be used to equip ATL students with imagination and inventive skills:
By the end of the 4 steps, ATL students will be sufficiently equipped with knowledge & skills to bring their ideas into reality by leveraging various tinkering & prototyping resources available in the ATL.
Role of School Management: Organize sessions on foundational skills involving making & tinkering for new students at the ATL.
Role of Students: Attend skilling sessions to acquire foundational skills in making & tinkering that will enable you to leverage tinkering resources available in the ATL to bring your ideas to reality.
Role of Mentor(s): Conduct skilling sessions on making & tinkering for ATL students.
Role of ATL In-charge: Organize skilling sessions on making & tinkering for ATL students with the help of mentors or experts.
