Summary: Put in place interactive flash cards on Intellectual Property Rights in the ATL so that students can use them as a ready-reckoner to protect the intellectual property rights of their creations, innovations or designs.
Many ATL students come up with brilliant ideas, innovations and designs. However, they are often not aware of intellectual property rights (IPR) such as copyrights, trademarks, patents and designs - which allow them to protect their creations from unauthorized use. Due to lack of awareness, their unprotected ideas, innovations or designs could be copied, misused or commercialized by unauthorized individuals or organizations. As such, raising awareness on intellectual property rights among ATL students is most essential. At the same time, awareness should lead to action. That is, students should also know what to do in order to protect their intellectual property.
Even though training programs on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) are conducted for ATL students, they are not always effective because they mostly provide theoretical information. They don't enable students to take action to protect their intellectual property. As a result, most students forget what they learnt a few days or weeks after the training program is over. For students to make effective use of the knowledge gained, they need to have access to important learning resources on IPR along with pointers to tools & templates that they can readily make use of. For e.g., if students can download, customize and add a "Copyright Notice" to their software code or document, it will enable them to take concrete action to protect their intellectual property.
Flash cards are simple, but very effective learning aids that can be provided for ATL students to not only become aware of intellectual property rights, but also to take concrete steps to protect their intellectual property rights.
Create interactive Flash Cards with QR Codes that provide tidbits of information, examples, tips & suggestions on intellectual property rights such as copyrights, trademarks, patents and designs. ATL students can refer to these flash cards as and when they need them. Students can scan the QR codes on a Flash Card to view online videos; open IPR search engine or IPR efiling portal; download IP samples & templates to use, among others. Flash Cards make it possible for students to have all the information they need at their finger tips - as and when they need them. The skilling then becomes lot more effective than traditional training programs.
