Summary: Put in place flash cards on Digital Skilling so that ATL students can use them as a ready-reckoner to acquire knowledge & skills in a variety of digital tools & technologies at their own pace.
Today, we live in a digital world. There are many online tools and platforms that allow creative self-expression of individuals. These digital tools & platforms enhance the ability of individuals to tinker, prototype or innovate. Without awareness or skills in online digital tools and platforms, ATL students will be limited in their ability to tinker, build prototypes or innovate. As such, skilling students on online digital tools & platforms is most essential.
However, most traditional skilling programs fail to achieve their objective as they involve intense learning over a short-duration of time. Most students find it challenging to absorb a lot of information in a short span of time. Moreover, they cannot always retain knowledge of a subject for which they haven't felt a need yet. The net result is, most students forget what they learnt a few days or weeks after the training program is over. For skilling to be effective, it has to be a slow and steady process. Skilling on digital tools & platforms has to happen over a period of time with learning content, samples, templates, and pointers available to ATL students as and when they need them.
Flash cards are simple, but very effective learning aids that can be provided to ATL students so that they can acquire knowledge & skills in digital tools & technologies at their own pace. Create interactive Flash Cards with QR Codes that provide tidbits of information, examples, tips & suggestions on online tools & platforms. ATL students can refer to these flash cards as and when they need them. Students can scan the QR codes on the Flash Card to view online tutorials, watch videos, download samples, & templates, or access online digital platforms. Flash Cards makes it possible for students to have all the information they need at their finger tips - as and when they need them. Skilling with flash cards becomes lot more effective than traditional training programs.
Here are sample flash cards on two digital skills:
As can be seen above, the flash cards have a brief information on the digital skill, a list of tools, a picture to illustrate the tool or technology associated with the skill, and a few QR codes that open online videos, samples and tools when scanned. Similarly, we can create interactive Flash Cards for the following digital skills:
