Summary: Set up an ATL web-portal that can serve as a one-stop-shop for all things related to the needs of tinkerers and innovators at the ATL.
Learning resources & tutorials needed by ATL students are often scattered in multiple locations. They may be available on Google Drive folders, on third-party web-sites or on YouTube. Searching for the right resources is often frustrating and time-consuming. When ATL students don't find what they are looking for, they tend to give up and lose interest. We need a central repository where all tinkering resources & tutorials needed by tinkerers and innovators can be readily found.
Set up a web-portal that can serve as a one-stop-shop for the needs of tinkerers and innovators at your ATL. In fact, the ATL in-charge, Mentors and ATL students can all contribute to building the web-portal. With the web-portal in place, ATL students don't have to spend endless hours searching for learning content and focus more on their tinkering or innovation projects. They can also access the web-portal from anywhere (at the ATL or at home), on any day (school days or holidays) and at any time (after school hours).
The web-portal can contain the following resources:
eLearning resources in the form of presentation decks, eBooks, podcasts, photos, diagrams, videos, and pointers to external websites - developed by mentors, ATL students as well as those from third-party sources.
An ATL process that provides step-by-step guide for ATL students to take their ideas forward and build a prototype, convert their prototype into products, and commercialize their products, raise funds, file patents, etc.
An Idea Bank for ATL students to submit their ideas and for the mentor to review and offer feedback and suggestions.
A Chatbot that can answer frequently asked questions from tinkerers and innovations on identifying and using various tinkering resources in the ATL.
A Wall of Fame that contains the names of top tinkerers and innovators of the month
An Innovation Gallery that showcases tinkering and innovation projects of ATL students online.
In-house tools such as Tinkering Resource Identifier that support ATL students in their tinkering & innovating projects.
Third-party tools such as Google Remote Desktop, Simulators, Asana or Slack that enable tinkerers and innovators to manage their projects and collaborate with each other better.
Here's a slide deck that gives you step-by-step instructions for building a web-portal:
Google Sites or Wix can be used for building the ATL web-portal.
Here are several ATL web portals developed by ATL Students from different schools across the country for the benefit of fellow tinkerers. Create something similar for your ATL.
