Summary: Create an Online Store for ATL students to trade their creations with each other.
ATL students often create code-snippets, designs, research document, and other artifacts as part of their tinkering and innovation projects at the ATL. These project-specific artifacts are not always shared with other ATL students, nor leveraged by other ATL students. Due to this, most students continue to re-invent the wheel the hard way. As a result, they are unable to leverage each other's creations and build on top of each other's work. There is a need to provide a mechanism for ATL students to trade their creations with each other and in the process earn reward points.
Set up an online ATL Store that allows:
Student tinkerers & innovators to trade their creations (code snippets, designs, research documents, etc.) with other students.
Student tinkerers can download student-creations from the ATL Store and re-use them in their own tinkering or innovation projects.
To encourage students to trade their creations with each other, put in place a reward system. Every time an artifact is downloaded from the ATL Store, let the student who created the artifact, and the student who re-used the artifact earn suitable reward points. Make sure students can accumulate reward points over time and use it for gaining other benefits in the ATL or in the school.
By facilitating re-use & leverage among ATL students, tinkerers & innovators will be able to build on top of each other's works and come up with solutions, prototypes and products with greater complexity in a shorter period of time. This will avoid re-invention of the wheel and improve the quality and quantity of innovations coming out of the ATL.
The following tools can be used for creating the ATL Store:
Google Sites to build a website
Here is an ATL Store created using Google Sites website builder tool. The ATL Store makes it possible for ATL students to trade their creations with each other and earn reward points.
Create an ATL Store website using Google Sites tool.
Add information on each student-created artifact on the ATL Store.
Upload student created artifacts (code snippets, research documents, designs, etc.) on a Google Drive folder.
For each artifact on the ATL Store, provide a "Download" button so that students can download the artifact and re-use it in their own tinkering or innovation projects.
Role of School Management: Set up an ATL Store for students to trade their creations with each other.
Role of Students: Contribute your creations (code snippets, designs, research documents, etc.) for hosting on the ATL Store. Download student-creations from the ATL Store and re-use it in your own tinkering or innovation projects.
Role of Mentor(s): Assist ATL students in packaging their creations for hosting on the ATL Store. Suggest student-creations that can be re-used by students in their tinkering or innovation projects.
Role of ATL In-charge: Encourage students to contribute to the ATL Store as well as re-use student-creations from the ATL Store. Host student-creations on the ATL Store. Award reward points for students who contribute their creations to the ATL Store, as well as those students who download and re-use student-creations from the ATL Store.
