About Me

“The truth will not necessarily set you free, but truthfulness will.”

-Ken Wilber

Matthew Breuer received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Ripon College in Wisconsin, his home state. He earned his Master's in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, CIIS.

The Integral component means incorporating all aspects of a person. This also translates to a western approach of depth psychology combined with eastern wisdom traditions, plus attention to the intersectionality of diversity, especially including POC and individuals in the QUILTBAG community.

He completed a year as a Clinical Intern at the Stonewall Project, which specializes in harm reduction approaches to health.

"I offer an initial telephone consultation, at no cost, to help determine if I'm the right therapist for you. I welcome any of your questions or concerns."

He will be starting a PhD program in Integral & Transpersonal Psychology this fall, at CIIS.

Matthew focuses on working with mood disorders like Bipolar, and is available to see individuals, couples, families, kids and groups in downtown San Francisco at 870 Market Street in the Flood Building, off Powell BART/MUNI Station.

He is supervised by Steven Tierney EdD, LPCC #493.
