At the Waterfront, we strive for every scout to be comfortable in and on the water. Our aquatics staff members are rigorously trained to ensure participant safety, learning, and — most importantly — fun!
At the swimming side, our staff will seek to match each Scout’s ability and comfort levels to the activities provided. For those Scouts strengthening swimming ability, just beginning to learn, and/or those needing aquatic requirements, our friendly staff is on hand to tirelessly work with your Scouts during not only a morning troop instructional swim time, but also during our free swim, every day from 4pm-5pm. For the more experienced Scouts in your troop, we focus on introducing them to other techniques such as flipping off the diving boards or running on water (it’s a magical time).
Over at boating, our staff guides your Scouts in the use of fixed and sliding-seat rowboats, canoes, sit-in and sit-on-top kayaks, sailboats, and stand-up paddleboards. Techniques are accompanied by games and races to strengthen comprehension. During open boating, every day from 4pm-5pm and 6:45pm-7:30pm, Scouts can fish from a rowboat, test their paddling skills in a canoe, or catch the last breeze of the day in a sailboat, among other options.
Sign up at the beginning of the week to train and attempt the mile swim. Your unit can sign up for an early-morning polar bear program: water polo, blueberry madness, or the best wake-up in camp – the Blob. After dinner, your troop can sign up to come on down and play water polo, Moby Duck, Blob, play on the blueberry pads, and more! There is always fun to be had at the Waterfront!
