Arrange numbers in ascending order.

Median is the middle most number.

Median = 7

Find the Median of the following data : 5, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8, 8, 8, 9, 9, 9

Since there are two numbers in the middle, Median is the average of two numbers.

5, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8, 8, 8, 9, 9, 9

Median = (7+8) / 2

= 7.5

Mode

Mode is the most frequented item.

Find the Mode of the following data : 9, 8, 6, 7, 5, 6, 7, 7, 5.

Arranging in order : 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8, 9.

7 repeat 3 times while 5 and 6 repeat 2 times each.

Mode = 7.

Find the Mean, Median, Mode, Standard Deviation of the above data

Mean = ∑fx / ∑f

= 305/37

= 8.24

Position of Median = (n + 1)/2

= (37 + 1)/2

= 19

Median = 19th Value = 8

Highest Frequency = 9.

Corresponding value is the mode.

Mode = 12.
