My research seeks to understand and anticipate effects of climate change on arctic terrestrial ecosystems to draw management advices that ensure sustainable harvest by local communities. To achieve this, I integrate knowledge gained from spatial ecology, population dynamics, landscape genetics and species interactions. My empirical work is primarily based in Greenland and Svalbard and I directly advice the Government of Greenland on the management of land mammals. My values lies in a lifestyle of self-sufficiency, living from the resources that have evolved 'in your backyard'. Mitigation-solutions to climate change and habitat destruction should be system-specific: "spatial heterogeneity is key to a sustained biodiversity".
