Scaled scores are a mathematical conversion of the number of items that a candidate answers correctly so that there is a consistent scale used across all forms of the exam. A relevant example is the process of converting pounds to kilograms. The weight of the object has not changed, only the units being reported.

Please keep in mind that your final score is based on the number of questions answered or tasks performed correctly. If you leave a question unanswered, you will not receive credit. Furthermore, you do not receive partial credit. For example, if a question requires you to select three correct options, you do not receive credit for selecting one or two of the three options that are correct. You are only graded on whether or not all of the requirements are met in your final response.

The Seal of Biliteracy is an award given by a school, district, or state inrecognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or morelanguages by high school graduation. Students who have taken an advanced placement course of the College Entrance Examination Board in their secondary school and who have taken an AP examination of the CEEB may receive university credit. No credit is given for any examination with a score of two or one. There is no limit to the number of AP credits that can be used to meet the General Studies requirement, including the requirements in natural sciences (SQ and SG) and literacy and critical inquiry (L).

Students who present an International Baccalaureate exam may qualify for university credit, depending on the level of the examination and the grade received. Arizona State University grants credit for higher-level courses and some standard-level courses. A high-level grade of five qualifies the student to receive credit for up to two introductory courses while a grade of four qualifies a student to receive credit for one introductory course. No credit is awarded for English as a second language (English B). Credit is awarded according to the International Baccalaureate credit table below.

The examination is prepared by the instructor who normally conducts the course, and it is comprehensive in nature and scope. The instructor and other experts designated by the chairperson grade the examination, using letter grades "A+", "A", "A-", "B+", "B", "B-", "C+", "C", "D" or "E". If the grade is "C" or higher, a mark of "Y" is entered on the student's permanent record; otherwise, no entry is made. Credit by examination is indicated as such on the record. The student is notified by mail of the result of the examination. In cases of failure ("D" or "E"), the student is not given an opportunity to repeat the examination.

A student pursuing a second baccalaureate degree may not receive credit by comprehensive examination, but with prior approval of the college the student may use the examination to waive a course requirement if a grade of "C" or higher is earned.

On June 28, 2022, the Maryland State Board of Education (MSBOE) approved a waiver for the EOC Exam requirement for all courses in the 2022-2023 school year. The waiver states that the EOC Exams are to be counted as 20 percent of the final course grade (COMAR 13A.03.02.06.H). The MSBOE has determined that EOC exams will be implemented starting in the 2023-2024 school year. The MSDE is working to support the EOC Exams for Life Science and Government. COMAR 13A.03.02 Graduation Requirements for Public High Schools and EOC Exam implementation are pending revisions.

It's also important to understand the role that maintaining continuous enrollment plays in the Civic Literacy requirement. Continuous enrollment is defined as taking at least one course that earns a grade during the timeframe that spans three academic terms, such as spring, summer, and fall. Students who have not met this continuous enrollment requirement, and then return to EFSC in fall 2021 or later, must follow the Civic Literacy requirements in effect when they return. For example, the student who started in 2014 and stopped attending until fall 2021 (or later), as well as the student who started in spring 2019 and stopped attending until fall 2021 (or later) must meet the new requirements for graduation.

The aim of Mathematical Literacy is to help learners develop the ability to use a variety of mathematical andnon-mathematical techniques and/or considerations to explore and make sense of both familiar and unfamiliar real-life contexts. Therefore it is essential that assessment items and examinations draw on realistic and authentic contexts. Learners should be asked to make sense of newspaper articles, real bank statements, real plans and other authentic resources, rather than contrived problems containing only a semblance of reality.

This examination guidelines document is meant to articulate the assessment aspirations espoused in the CAPS document. It is therefore not a substitute for the CAPS document which educators should teach to. Qualitative curriculum coverage as enunciated in the CAPS cannot be over-emphasised.

If you did not take one of the two exams, and have made arrangements with me to compensate for this, the grade estimate is not accurate. Too much depends on how you do on the final exam to give a useful estimate.
