I would like to see how many of us here are Marvel Trading Card Collectors. I'm an admin and co host on the @themccpod--this hobby has been so much fun, so I would love to continue this journey by getting all my marvel trading cards graded.

I have a few of the 90's Marvel trading card sets and love flipping through them occasionally. The 90 Set is my favorite and always gives me a blast of nostalgia when flipping through it. I might be tempted to send some random cards in for grading if CGC does eventually open up their grading for Marvel cards. Even though they are very common and easy to find, I could see this opening the door for a minor increased value in the cards and a much larger increase in higher grades.

There are tons or very rare 90s cards out there and even fewer that are graded at gem mint. I think a few people will be willing to hunt down 90 marvel cards in high grade as though will be the way to get a card that was over produced -- in a investment/ rare collectible. Plus could you imagine having all these cards under a CGC label next to their comic book counter part? So cool.

I think that'll be the part that'll drive most people to buying them and getting them graded. I could see people trying to get matching grades too which drive up the price all around. Who knows though. The only reason why I wouldn't consider sending in a bunch would be it being cost prohibitive to send in cards that are worth a quarter (what a majority are worth) for grading at 10 bucks a pop.

I don't collect cards anymore...haven't for more than 20 years. I have Marvel cards from the 90's (Annuals, Universe, etc.), but I'm not getting them graded. I invest in grading comics instead. I actually have a sales thread under 'Misc', but I have so many commons for DC, Marvel, etc., that I can't list them all. I was a huge fan of the Hildebrandt series in 1994 or 1995. I forget. Lol

Yes it is!!! I originally started collecting Marvel cards with Masterpieces '92. I stopped collecting around 1997/1998...with a few odds and ends in the very late '90s. If I had any high end premium cards worth grading, I would do so. I'm more in the market of selling off my collection, including my comics...but those tend to be more lucrative.

I love the 1974 and 1975 Marvel stickers produced by TOPPS. They had cheesy captions on them - they were great. And the backs were puzzle pieces that formed either FF #100 or Conan #1 after you used the stickers. You can find loose singles and unopened packs on eBay. I bought a few unopened packs for $15 each at SDCC in 2018 from a card seller.

I'm still a huge collector of the 90's Marvel trading cards...everything from the Marvel Universe to the X-Men Fleer and so on. I'd love to see CGC begin grading Marvel cards from the 90's and would totally send some of mine in.

I think I still have a bunch of these in a box at my parents' house, but I did find this one the other night when going through some of my old bins here at my house. Didn't realize people still collected them. Any I should look out for if I find that box?

Anyone else remember how you could tear a tiny hole in the packs to see if there was a hologram in the pack? The holgrams were always on the top and I would go to Toys R Us and scratch packs and buy all the ones with holograms and then sell them to guys at school who were into the cards. Good times

Absolutely loved those early 90s Marvel sets. The original 1990 set was a big reason that I got into comics - introduced me to The New Warriors, Darkhawk, and tons of other villains and heroes that I hadn't previously heard of. I would absolutely submit and collect those if CGC starts accepting

The early 1990s were all about lenticular covers, bagged promos, and rampant speculation. But they were also about trading cards. Upper Deck reigned supreme and we finally said goodbye to buying cards with super hard chewing gum. Traditionally we had purchased sports cards, but Marvel Comics had given us another option by issuing a series of collectible cards featuring their spandex clad characters.

I never had the entire set, but grabbing packs here and there whetted my appetite for Series II. And, to borrow a phrase from the time, Series II was da bomb. The art and production was upped even more. The stats on the back of the cards was replaced with power levels so now we could compare the strength, intelligence, and energy output of each hero. There was a 7-11 right beside my local comic book shop, so I was able to grab my comics and have some change left over for Big Feet and some Marvel cards. Of course there were a lot of doubles, but trading at school helped me get closer to a completed set and a final purchase of a Namor card (for $1) at a comic convention completed the entire 167 card set. It remains one of my great accomplishments in life.

For Series III there was no fooling around. My brother and I saved up and bought an entire box. Unbeknownst to us there were a lot of sets in a box. Or there were almost a lot of sets. I think we got one full set each and split the holograms. It was a foolproof plan, but I did rob myself of the joy of actually collecting the cards.

Totally agree about the Official Handbook. Scott! Threw them away? For shame. I still have some random cards stashed somewhere (like that GR rookie), but I sold my sets and holograms about 8 years ago on eBay. I actually got decent coin ($20-$30 per set).

I inherited my Marvel card collection from my brotherlaw who was purging his stuff. You are right, it was one of the more fun ways to learn about the Marvel heroes. Sure there is the encyclopedia, but the randomness of shuffling the cards and pulling a hero out of the deck was more fun than reading about them alphabetically.

I myself have been doing this for over 15 years now and continue to fill in the missing spots of my silver surfer card collection. I've collected all the base, versus, appearances, team ups, most parallels, foreign, stickers, and TCG.

I'm happy to share any and all of my resources and how I've been able to find all these cards over the years. I mainly met this thread to see if any other collectors out there are as crazy as me out there.

I'm Steve, I am a Punisher Card collector (I love collecting Marvel Cards in general). I also collect The Joker in DC. I've never submitted a card for grading and want to submit my 2016 MM Kaleidoscope Punisher as my first card. Any ideas of what I should use as the declared value?

If it is the /25 version of the card and then I would maybe just put down between 500 and 1000. I know the prices can be higher or lower depending on the buyer. I also realize how that card is never out and about.

"Submitters to CGC are required to list a declared value for each collectible in their submission. By submitting a collectible and listing a declared value, the submitter agrees that the declared value represents the current fair market value (FMV) of the submitted collectible."

I also collect Doctor Strange. Over 30 years now. I have been fortunate to put a pretty good collection together. All trading cards reside in my card chest. Historically one of my favorite things to collect.

I will definitely post some pics. My busy season in my real job is just ending, and I will start being active with posts over the winter. Thank you for answering my question, that was kinda what I was thinking but figured I would ask. Talk to you soon.

Okay.... I want everyone to know what an amazing honor it is to have you here. Right off the bat we have someone here who is truly an inspiration all character collectors. I know many of you are extremely well-versed in your character collecting, so I'm excited to have another great on the site.

I was very fortunate during the 2020 Upper Deck Xmen metal run to obtain a complete rainbow of this iconic image on Sub-Mariners high series card . One of my fav rainbows I put together for sure . In todays market doing something like is becoming literally impossible due to competition , prices etc. it makes it even more special to me. 152ee80cbc
