This project idea came to my mind when visiting my neighbours. It was a fun board game night until I wanted to know what the time was. When I turned my eyes on the spot where their wall clock used to be, I noticed that it wasn´t there. A sign saying: "The time is not enough to go home" was put instead of the clock. Clever, I thought!
I wanted to build something similar - a clock that is able to violate the basic rules of physics and vary the "speed of time" whenever it is necessary.
I chose to build a generic display capable of showing characters, and made it accessible via local network so that anyone could push messages from their computers or smartphones.
Screen is made from WS2812b LED strip (about 10 meters)
7*85=595 individual RGB pixels
Controlled by Raspberry Pi
Has custom made PCB that contains:
Level shifter from 3.3V to 5V for the LED strip data line
Real-time clock and battery
EEPROM memory
Color and temperature sensor
Infra Red receiver (not mounted on picture)
