The goal of this project was to hide some functionality from the end user by replacing the original user interface of a field monitor.
The goal of this project was to hide some functionality from the end user by replacing the original user interface of a field monitor.
The original user interface shown on the image below communicates with the main monitor's controller over asynchronous serial port
The communication was reverse engineered using a logic analyzer, and reproduced with my own programmed microcontroller. The new user interface shown on the image below had less buttons, high quality optical rotary encoders for applying different effects and capability of restoring monitors default settings after certain time of inactivity.Â
